Bad River for Chan

We found Terrence Chan playing against only the small blind on a flop of {2-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}. That player bet 1,100 into the pot and Chan called. It was second verse, same as the first on the {6-Clubs} turn, with the small blind making the price of poker 1,800.

The river fell {K-Spades} and brought one more bet from the small blind -- 3,800. Chan didn't seem thrilled to call, but call he did. His opponent showed top two pair, {k-Diamonds} {J-Spades}. Chan could only grin and sigh, squeezing his cards one last time before pitching them in.

Chan's stack now hovers around 9,000 chips.

Chino Straightened Out

David 'Chino' Rheem on the rail
David 'Chino' Rheem on the rail
Catching the action with the board reading {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades}, David 'Chino' Rheem had all his chips in the middle as the action was on Theo Tran.

"I know I have the best hand right now . . . but it will suck if you outdraw me" stated Rheem in the directed on a visibly distressed Tran.

With Tran needing to call an additional 3,925 into a pot of roughly 9,000, he would toss a single 5,000-denomination chip into the pot and the cards were tabled.

Rheem: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Tran: {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}

The turn would change nothing when it dropped the {5-Diamonds}, but when the dealer burned and turned the {7-Diamonds} on the river, Rheem would exit the tournament as Tran climbed to over 25,000 in chips.

J.J. Liu Eliminated

We're ten minutes into Level 3 and just witnessed the eradication of J.J. Liu from the tournament. She was heads-up on the river with one opponent. There were 11,000 chips in the pot and {A-Clubs} {10-Spades} {7-Spades} {J-Clubs} {J-Hearts} on the board. Liu's opponent acted first and moved all in, effectively putting Liu all in for about 6,800 if she called.

Liu studied her opponent and started to shake her head. "Oh," she said with a sigh. She peeked back at her cards and shook her head a second time. "Did you flop a set?" she asked. There was no response.

"Ok, if you got me you got me," Liu declared. She threw the rest of her chips into the pot. Her opponent did indeed flop a set with {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}, improving to sevens fulls of jacks on the river. Liu flashed the {J-Spades} but had no full house of her own. She's out.

Tony Hachem KO's Opponent

JB running hot!
JB running hot!
With the action folding round to Tony Hachem in the hijack, he opened with a raise to 600 and was called by the big blind.

The flop of {10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{J-Clubs} brought about a check-call from his opponent after Hachem fired 1,200 at the pot.

When the turn landed the {6-Diamonds} Hachem's bet of 3,000 was again check-called to see the {9-Clubs} fall on the river.

This time however, Hachem's opponent took the aggressive approach moving all in for his last 11,500.

Hachem sat in the tank umming and ahhing over a decision before eventually making the call tabling {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts} to best his opponent's {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts} as he climbs to 35,000 and change.

Short Day Getting Shorter for Gill

"You don't ever believe me, do ya?" Carter Gill asked the one opponent who called his 500-chip bet on a flop of {6-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}. "That's ok. I wouldn't believe me either."

Both players checked the {10-Spades} turn. On the river {9-Hearts} Gill's opponent led into him for 1,050. Gill called, then mucked when he was shown {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} for two pair, aces and nines.

Gill is down to 4,400 in chips.

Ang Doubles Opponent

It was a quick series of raises that saw Josh Pang Ang's opponent all in before the flop for 4,075. Ang called with {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} and was in rough shape against his opponent's {9-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}. No help arrived on board, forcing Ang to double up his opponent. He drops to about 17,000 in chips.
