We are unsure of exactly when the money went into the middle, but on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs} we found Yury Kerzhapkin doubling through Dinh Le.

Kerzhapkin held {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a flush to double to over 19,000, while Le's {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} were outdraw to see the 2007 Macau Asian Poker Open Champion crippled to 7,700 in chips.

Prizepool and Payout Information Released

Danny McDonagh and crew have just released the numbers everyone has been waiting for. The 429 players who registered for this year's APPT Season 3 inaugural event here in Macau generated a total prizepool of HKD $16,130,400 or roughly $2,081,000 USD.

The top 48 finishers will leave Macau with more than they came with (pending they haven't spent too much time at the baccarat tables or at the spa), while the tournament's eventual winner will take home over half a million dollars.

Quinn Do Doubles Up

Doubling up from 2,400 doesn't mean much when the blinds are 300 and 600 with an ante of 50, but every little bit helps. Quinn Do opened all in for 2,400 and was called by Josh Pang Ang.

"Chop?" Do jokingly offered Ang, moving to pull his bet back.

"I don't mind," Ang replied. "I'm behind."

Do: {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}
Ang: {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}

Ang was indeed behind, and stayed behind on every street {5-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {5-Spades} {10-Hearts}. Do's fives full of tens dragged the pot, giving him 5,800 chips.

Recent Eliminations

Now on the rail
Now on the rail
With three separate events being played simultaneously in the Grand Lisboa poker room, action has been fast and intense, and consequently we have missed a few eliminations.

The short-stacked Wooka Kim, Dinh Le and JC Tran have all fallen to the rail as players jostle for position as we count down to the last few hands.

Huang Clipped

Catching the action on the {K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} board and a pot of around 10,000 sitting in the middle, Yury Kerzhapkin threw out a single yellow 5,000-denomination chip.

His lone opponent Bryan Huang deliberated over a decision for nearly three minutes before sliding in 12,000 to effectively put Kerzhapkin all in.

Kerzhapkin obliged tabling {7-Spades}{6-Clubs} to behind Huang's {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}, but when the {7-Hearts} fell on the river, Kerzhapkin doubled through to 35,000 as Huang slipped to 9,300 in chips.

Bryan Huang Busto

The eliminations are starting to pick up out on the tournament floor. After taking a hit just a few minutes before, Bryan Huang found himself all in for his last 7,950 with {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}. It was a tough spot for his opponent, but he eventually called with {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}.

"Oh boy," said Huang. The flop came down a very interesting {6-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}. "Eight?" Huang asked. "No queen." The queen came anyway on the turn, {Q-Spades}. That left Huang drawing about as slim as he could be. He didn't hit the river {10-Diamonds} and went to seek consolation from comrade Josh Pang Ang one table away.

Tran Still Climbing

Theo Tran
Theo Tran
Theo Tran is fast approaching 100,000 in chips, seemingly in complete control of the action at his table. He recently took another 7,600 from Andrew Scott in the following hand:

One limper entered the pot before the action folded around to Tran in the cutoff, who limped as well. Scott completed from the small blind and the big blind checked.

The flop came down {5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Scott opened with a 2,000 bet. Both the big blind and unknown limper folded, but Tran made the call.

The {3-Spades} fell on fourth street and Scott fired again, this time making it 5,000 to play. Tran called once more, sending the action to the river: {J-Clubs}.

Two quick checks prompted an early showdown and Scott tabled {10-?}{5-?} for two pair. Tran then tabled {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a bigger two pair to earn the pot. He currently sits with right around 93,000 in chips.

Chong Wing Cheong on a Mission

The bold, aggressive style of Chong Wing Cheong is one most often employed by successful poker players. Cheong has only one cash on his poker resume but he's aiming for his second this weekend. He's up to 67,000, surviving a table that has included the likes of Wooka Kim and Bryan Huang.
