Saab Wins Race; Sends Gill Packing

David Saab and his pet "Sharky"
David Saab and his pet "Sharky"
"Win a race... Come on Sharky!" shouted David Saab, holding his stuffed PokerStars 'Card Shark' high in the air as the dealer prepped the table for a classic {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} v. {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} race between him and Carter Gill.

Saab's jacks remained best after the {4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop.

"Hold on, Sharky!" he yelled.

The {3-Clubs} fell on the turn.

"Come on, Sharky!" the pleading continued.

The last card off the deck was the {4-Hearts} and Saab's jacks would reign supreme to claim the pot, sending Gill to the rail.

"Sharky power!" screamed Saab before he raked in his newfound chips. He now has just under 60,000 in total.

Chips for Field

Josh "JJProdigy" Field

David Saab's table is much quieter now that Saab's good buddy Carter Gill has hit the rail. Even the loquacious Saab himself seems to have piped down. He opened a recent pot to 1,500 and induced two folds before Josh Field re-raised to 4,500. The big blind in the hand pushed all in over the top of that raise for 13,000, drawing a quick fold from Saab and a quick call from Field.

Field: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades}
Big blind: {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

Field had woken up with a real hand and watched it hold up, {k-Clubs} {9-Spades} {K-Hearts} {j-Clubs} {3-Hearts}. He eliminated the big blind and increased his own count to roughly 40,000.

Wong Walks

Steve Wong eliminated
Steve Wong eliminated
On a board reading {A-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} Steve Wong moved his last 8,550 into roughly a pot of 12,000.

His lone opponent in the hand sat in the tank for near on three minutes before making the call.

Instantly Wong tossed his cards into the muck before his opponent even had a chance to table his {A-Spades}{J-Hearts} for a rivered set of trips.

Good Game, Quinn Do

"Muck your hand, muck your hand!" Quinn Do jokingly encouraged his opponent. But that opponent was already all in. "I'm all in," he said, and that was when Do realized he was in trouble. His {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} needed to improve in a big way against his opponent {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}, but Do was basically drawing dead after a flop of {5-Spades} {2-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. He needed running tens to avoid elimination but they didn't come. Do is out.

Top Dawgs

Perusing the room, it appears as though the top three chip stacks belong to Tom Hall (117,000), Sunny Bhayana (98,700) and Theo Tran (93,000).

With 99 players remaining here on Day 1c, the average chip stack is a little less than 35,000.

Woo Cut in Half

The board showed {7-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} and Michael Woo's opponent was all in for 30,100 chips. It was a big decision pot for Woo, the kind of hand that can really cement a player's chances of going deep by building a big stack. Woo elected to call with {A-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}, but was up against {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. He never improved as the turn was a blank {2-Clubs} and the river also missed, {Q-Diamonds}. Counting down the chips needed to pay off his opponent cut Woo's stack in half.

Another Hit for Cheong

Despite playing a bold, aggressive style, Chong Wing Cheong is limping towards the home stretch here on Day 1c. His standard preflop raise was re-raised by an additional 4,300 from the small blind. Cheong called that raise, taking a flop of {10-Spades} {9-Spades} {4-Hearts}. His opponent led out for 8,500. Cheong thoughtfully cut the chips off of his stack and slid them across the betting line.

When the turn fell {7-Hearts}, Cheong's opponent stopped messing around. He moved in for his last 15,300 Cheong asked the dealer to count it down, but once she confirmed the total he mucked his hand.
