Day 1c Started

Day 1c Coming Up

It's about that time. Day 1c is coming up shortly and it promises to be the most exciting of the three starting days by a long shot. Take the Hachem brothers, Joe and Tony, add a little bit of Chris Moneymaker, top it with some Lee Nelson and Bryan Huang and you've got yourself a delightful recipe. All of them are Team PokerStars Pros and all of them will be in action today.

Day 1a got 75 players and Day 1b added another 68. That gives the 2010 PokerStars.net APPT Sydney Grand Final Main Event a total 143 players thus far. It's just about an hour away from the start of play today and there's already 88 players signed up, making it the largest day even before play has begun. By the time registration closes, four hours into play, there should be about 150 runners today, pushing the grand total around the 300-player mark.

Daniel Neilson ended Day 1b with 164,100 and surpassed Manuel Hansimikali from Day 1a, who bagged up 136,600. There will be more chips in play today, meaning more for the taking. Our very own Lynn Gilmartin has the recap from yesterday and we'll let her tell you all about it. Watching her talk is much more of a pleasant site than reading text anyway.

Day 1c kicks off at 12:30 p.m. local time and you can catch all the action right here on PokerNews!

Khalil Already All In

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

We got to the table and saw that Ali Khalil had all of his chips in the middle on the river with the board reading {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. He had 12,750 laid out in front of him and his opponent was in the tank. Eventually, the player folded and flashed two kings. "The old seven high does it," said Khalil as he raked the pot and moved his stack to 45,000 right off the bat.

Kashyap Bluffs

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Catching the action with the board reading {5-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, we found ANZPT Queensland Champion Nauv Kashyap firing out a bet of 8,100.

His opponent deliberated for a few moments before making the call holding {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for a straight to best Kashyap's bluff with {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

Kashyap is down to 16,000 in chips.

De Wolfe Check-Raised on River

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Todor Kondevski, who won the 2009 Melbourne Texas Hold'em Championship Main Event, checked the flop of {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Spades} and another player checked before Roland de Wolfe fired 200. Kondevski made the call and the other player folded.

The turn card was the {10-Diamonds} and Kondevski checked. De Wolfe fired 700 this time and Kondevski called again.

The {K-Hearts} paired the board on the river and Kondevski passed action to de Wolfe once more. De Wolfe fired 1,000, but was met with a check-raise to 3,500 from Kondevski. De Wolfe mucked and Kondevski won the pot.
