Day 1b Started

Round 2

Level 7 : 400/800, 75 ante

Welcome back for Day 1b of the 2010 PokerStars.net APPT Grand Final here in sunny Sydney, Australia! Yesterday kicked off the A$6,300 Main Event with 75 players taking to action. Much like last year, the numbers should increase a bit for the second day's field, but we're not expecting a packed room until Day 1c. Last year, 109 runners showed up for the second starting flight, and we should see right around 100 again this time around.

Instead of boring with all the details in text format from yesterday's starting day, we'll let our very own resident Aussie (and third-place finisher from the 2009 APPT Grand Final Ladies Championship!) Lynn Gilmartin tell you all about the action from Day 1a in the video update below.

Day 1b kicks off shortly at 12:30 p.m. local time. We will tell you that we've got a special player in action today, the one and only Daniel Negreanu. Another seven levels will be in the works and you can follow all of the action right here on PokerNews! Stay tuned.

Some Interesting Tables

Level 7 : 400/800, 75 ante

Table twenty-five seems to be the most interesting so far with 2008 APPT Sydney Champion Martin Rowe seated with Omer Silajdzija, Sheldon, Jesse 'On The Mac' McKenzie and Kasey Castle.

Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu and Celina Lin have drawn relatively tough tables. Negreanu is seated with Andrew Hinrichsen and Lin has Simon Watt and Mitchell Carle to contend with.

Watt Flops Flush

Level 7 : 400/800, 75 ante

On a flop of {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and facing a bet from an opponent in the big blind, Simon Watt bumped the action up to 1,800 from the button.

His opponent paused for a moment before making it 4,100 to go with Watt smooth-calling as the {4-Spades} landed on the turn.

Watt proceeded to call a 6,000-chip bet there, and when the {K-Spades} landed on the river, another 6,000-chip bet from the big blind.

Being shown {K-}{10-}, Watt tabled his {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a flopped flush to move to 46,000 in chips.

Watt Gives One Up

Level 7 : 400/800, 75 ante

On the board of {J-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, two players checked to 2010 WSOP gold bracelet winner Simon Watt. He fired a bet of 700 and the first player called. The other player folded.

The river completed the board with the {K-Hearts} and the first player fired 1,500. Watt thought for a minute, shot his opponent a glance and then tossed his hand into the muck.

Negreanu on the Board

Level 7 : 400/800, 75 ante

From under the gun, Andrew "FUZZBUNGLE" Hinrichsen raised to 300. He got a call from another WSOP bracelet winner in the field and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu.

Negreanu was in late-middle position and the flop came down {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Hinrichsen fired a continuation bet of 375 and Negreanu called to see the {5-Hearts} pair the board on the turn and complete a present heart draw. After Hinrichsen checked, Negreanu fired 1,100 and won the pot.
