Do Like Sarah Lee

There was 1,400 chips in the middle and the flop was {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Quinn Do checked to Sarah Lee and she fired 600. Do made the call.

The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and Do checked again. Lee fired 1,500 this time and Do called again.

The river completed the board with the {4-Hearts}. Do reached into his stack and fired 2,300. Lee folded before Do looked at her and said, "That four didn't help me." He then turned up just one card and it was the {8-Spades}.

Do moved up to 16,000 while Lee dropped back to 16,000.

Le Gets a Big Pot with a Little Shove

When we caught up with a big pot on a board reading {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, there was already 21,000 in the middle. Tu Thanh Le was all in for his last 4,875, and his opponent was deep in the tank. A call would cost the guy about half of his remaining stack, and despite the odds, he elected to fold. He begged Le to show, but Le shook his head and carefully slid his cards face down to the dealer.

Life's Good for Hachem

Tony Hachem
Tony Hachem

Tony Hachem has been grinding his way around the circuit on this side of the world for quite some time now. He's the reigning Australia New Zealand Poker Tour player of the year and has a solid hold on first place on the leaderboard this year already. He's gathered himself 114.10 points while the next-closest competitor has 76.05. On top of that, he's the ANZPT Perth champion. Hachem is here in Macau looking to expand his horizons and add to his resume, where he has only one APPT Main Event cash.

Just recently, Hachem checked the board of {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} with 2,500 chips in the middle and two players left to act behind him. They both checked as well. The river was the {7-Clubs} and Hachem fired 800. Both his opponents quickly folded and Hachem scooped the pot to move in the positive to 22,000.

Rubie Shining

With about 6,000 chips already in the pot, Brendon Rubie was pitted against Quinn Do. Rubie had the action checked to him and he fired 3,500. Do tanked for quite some time and then eventually made the call. Rubie revealed the {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and won the pot to put his stack at 34,000.

Moments later, Rubie and Do battled again. This time, the board read {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Spades} on the turn. The pot was 2,900 and Rubie fired 2,500. Do made the call. The river completed the board with the {A-Spades}. Rubie checked and Do checked behind. Rubie had rivered an ace with his {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} after flopping a royal flush draw. Do mucked his hand and Rubie moved up to 38,000.

Four-Bet Fun

The under-the-gun player raised to 400, and Steve Yea called. When action got to the big blind, he made it 1,300. That didn't bother the original raiser at all. He four-bet to 4,300. Yea got out of the way, and the big blind looked a little angrier than necessary as he threw his {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} at the dealer.

Making Friends

Who says poker isn't a friendly game? Eric Yim and Wenceslao Sombero are sitting a few seats away from each other and discovered that both are heading to Las Vegas in a few days for the World Series of Poker. They're currently exchanging contact info so they'll know somebody when they get there.

Had Your Coffee Yet?

Tony Hachem was keeping things light and joking around when he bet 1,500 into a 600-chip pot on a flop reading {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. His opponent on the button clicked it back, and Hachem called the min-raise. Both players quickly checked the {k-Hearts} on the turn. And Hachem again checked the {8-Hearts} river. But his opponent was done playing nice and bet 5,000. Hachem's demeanor instantly changed. Time to get serious. "Where abouts you from? Europe?" Hachem asked. He studied the board for several minutes, saying he didn't expect this so early and was worried about strong plays from tablemate Steve Yea, but not from this unknown. Finally, Yea called the clock, and Hachem folded, flashing the {Q-Hearts}. He immediately reached for his coffee.
