The 2011 PokerStars.net APPT Queenstown has reached its penultimate day of action here at Sky City Casino and it is 21 players who remain in the running for the APPT title.
Leading the way is Germany’s Marcel Schreiner with his monster 453,800-chip stack equalling more than double that of his nearest rival, Tom Grigg.
While Grigg starts second-in-chips here, there is still a little sense of déjà vu coming into Day 3, with Grigg having started as the chipleader on the same day at last year’s APPT Auckland event. Grigg would go on to finish second in that event and it will be interesting to see how he does here all the way down the other end of New Zealand.
Also returning with a fighting chance at a final table berth is Jonathan Karamalikis, with the 2010 APPT Sydney Grand Final champion starting the day with just a touch less chips than Grigg.
Join the PokerNews Live Reporting team on the floor here in the Summit Room at Sky City Casino in Queenstown, as we kick off the action in just under an hour, playing down to a final table and getting all the closer to crowning our champion!

Wayne Bell started the day as the shortest stack in the room and would therefore have to get a move on early and that is exactly what he has just done.
The action started with Swannack opening to 5,500 from middle position. Bell made the call from the big blind and a flop was dealt. Both players opted to check and the came on the turn with both players checking again.
When the landed on the river Bell moved all-in for his remaining 11,00 and Swannack snap-flod as Bell added some much needed chips to his stack.

The on the river would pair up the board and see Swannack ship his 83,300 chips in the middle. Schreiner thought for a few moments before letting his hand go and sending the pot to Swannack.

We are down to 20 players here on Day 3 at 2011 APPT Queenstown, with Wayne Bell's elimination coming at the hands of Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx" Karamalikis.
The action started when play was folded to Bell in the hijack seat and he promptly moved all-in. Karamalikis sat directly to his left and opted to just flat-call as the rest of the players got out of the way.

Bell:
Bell got to his feet as the board ran out and Karamalikis took down the pot and increased his already healthy stack.

After the elimination of Wayne Bell it was Wayne Vickers who had the short-stack but he no longer needs to fret as he managed to take down a nice pot to sit a lot healthier.
Play was started by Carl Knox from the cutoff seat and he opened the pot to 5,100 before Tom Grigg would three-bet to 13,300 from the button. Vickers was in the small blind and he moved all-in for his remaining 11,000 not even having enough to cover the raise of Grigg. The play was back on Knox and he made the call.
Vickers would watch on with his tournament life on the line as Grigg and Knox went toe-to-toe in the hand. It wouldn't be of much excitement though as both the remaining players opted to check as the [9h8d4h3h4s board was dealt.
Knox turned his hand over first, tabling . Grigg flung his cards into the muck and Knox took down the small side-pot, while Vickers would take the triple-up as he tabled .
