With over 5,000 in the pot and the board showing {5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs} the player in the small blind bet out 4,500. His opponent was Jesse McKenzie, who made the call from middle position.

The {5-Clubs} on the turn saw the player in the small blind move all in for his remaining 15,600 and get snap called by McKenzie who had slightly more.

McKenzie: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

McKenzie had flopped a set and turned a full house and secured the pot once the {2-Clubs} completed the board.

Kihara Comes Up Short

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Naoya Kihara
Naoya Kihara

Team PokerStars Pro Online Naoya Kihara has been knocked out from this tournament, and we caught up with him on the rail.

The WSOP bracelet winner explained that he was down to just seven big blinds when the player on his right raised and he moved all in. Kihara got called by {K-}{Q-} and he was just ahead holding {A-}{10-}.

The board brought a queen and the Japanese pro hit the rail on the first day. Kihara however remains in good spirits, as he will be playing in the side events here this week.

"I will play the high roller as well," Kihara said, about the big tournament that takes place on Saturday.

Kihara also added that he's currently focussed on the big $400/$800 mixed games on PokerStars, and that the $50,000 Players Championship is a goal of his.

"If I have a nice win in Las Vegas, or if I win the satellite, I will play the $50k," Kihara said, as he cashed out last year after having won the satellite together with Kevin Song.

The River Keeps Holbrook Alive

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Yaxi Zhu just raised to 2,000 and Jeffrey Holbrook moved all in for 17,000. Yang Zhang was seated in the small blind and he moved all in as well after which Zhu folded her cards.

Holbrook, who finished 10th in this event last year, showed {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and he was up against Zhang's {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

The flop brought {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Zhang took the lead, and the turn, the {9-Diamonds}, kept Holbrook's hopes alive. On the river the {J-Spades} hit and Holbrook made his straight.

All On The Line For Wong

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

The action started with Nick Wong raising to 1,800 from middle position and getting called by the player on the button as well as the player in the small blind.

With the flop coming down {6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} Wong threw out a 2,800 continuation bet after his first opponent checked. The player on the button mucked his hand before the small blind made the call.

The {7-Hearts} fell on the turn and another check prompted Wong to move all in for his remaining 8,700 in chips. His opponent had plenty of chips behind but did not make the call, as he mucked his hand after several minutes of deliberation.

Wong moves back up to over starting stack.

Both his opponents folded and Wong picked up the pot.

Lim Loses Some

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Aaron Lim
Aaron Lim

Aaron Lim limped into the pot from under the gun plus one before his opponent in the cut off raised it up to 2,800. Lim made the call and both players watched the flop come down {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

Both players opted to check before the dealer produced the {q-Diamonds} on the turn. Lim check-called a bet of 1,700 before doing the same for 2,000 when the {5-Clubs} completed the board.

Lim watched as his opponent tabled {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a pair of queens which saw him toss his cards into the muck.

Even though he lost that hand, the 2013 AAPT Seoul champion and WSOP bracelet is still sitting on just over 50,000 in chips closing in on the end of day's play.

Wong Fighting For Top Spot

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We arrived at the table to see the player in the hijack raise to 2,700. He was called by Mick Wong in the cut off and the two watched the flop come down {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}.

A check from the player in the hijack prompted Wong to move all in for a substantial amount. His opponent had just over 20,000 in chips and deliberated over his decision before finally making the call.

Wong: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Opponent: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The board ran out the {2-Hearts} then the {a-Diamonds} to see Wong scoop in another large pot as he moved up to over 100,000 in chips.

Big Hand Before The End Of Play

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The hand started with Jian Yang limping into the pot from the cut off and followed with calls by Tyler Jennens on the button as well as Bryan Huang and Chane Kampanatsanyakorn in the blinds.

The flop came down {q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Spades} and all four players checked their option. The {10-Clubs} fell on the turn and the action checked around to Yang. He made it 4,000 to go before Jennens instantly raised it up to 11,000. The players in the blinds mucked their hands and Yang made the call shortly after.

The {4-Spades} completed the board and Yang moved all in for around 90,000 in chips. Jennens was well covered but made the call with 23,000 behind.

Yang tabled his {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for two pair but it was not enough as Jennens rolled over his {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for trip tens and the winning hand.
