Similar Pace as Day 1a

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Out of the 325 entrants for Day 1b, only 162 are still in according to the screens and thus mean half of the field has been eliminated while level seven still holds another 20 minutes to go until the last break for tonight. This pace is very similar to the one of last night and should also result in bagging and tagging around 11 pm, just in time for the players party at the "Chaos" next door.

Chandihok Stacking Up

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

It was no huge pot by any means that saw Mital Chandihok win more chips with {K-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for top pair in a battle small blind versus big blind for 4,000 chips on the {K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Spades} board. The American also won the hand immediately after and then gave us a quick count as one of the bigger stacks in the room right now. Thus, it would be a waste not to use this information.

Blaschke Recovers Some

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

In the last hand before the break, Manuel Blaschke opened the action with a raise to 1,800 and was called by both players in the blinds. The Austrian, who had been on a slippery slope as of lately and dropped quite a few chips, made a continuation bet worth 3,400 on the {5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{K-Clubs} flop.

Only the player in the big blind check-called and did so again after the {9-Clubs} turn for 5,500 before the {4-Diamonds} fell on the river. Again the action was checked to the Austrian and he fired 28,000, an overbet to the pot. This did the trick, as his opponent looked very confused and ended up mucking his cards.

Another bigger stack at the same table is Min Soon Lim from Singapore.

Casey Jr. Busts Two

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

After a min-raise and a call, Gerald Casey Jr. opted to put in the required 2,000 chips as well and two other short-stacks moved all in for 12 big blinds each behind the American. The initial raiser and cold-caller mucked their cards, but Casey Jr. was priced in with a suited ace and went into the showdown with the {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

The two short stacks held {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and {A-Spades}{K-Spades} to both hit the rail on a board of {5-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}.

Let's Play it Safe

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Keisuke Hikosaka won two early pots in the penultimate level and one of them came off a massive shove preflop. The overbet was supposed to attract customers simply based on the size, but that plan didn't work out. However, the Japanese flashed the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} just in case and is very close to six digits.

Nguyen The New Boss on the Table

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Manuel Blaschke lost about one third of his stack in the new level and Min Soon Lim also got cut off from a similar portion as well after losing a pot with kings against the {A-}{K-} of Robert Nguyen. The latter had previously mostly taken care of short stacks such as {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} versus {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} preflop to build up his ammunition at the table.

Now, Nguyen is the only player on table 20 with a six-digit amount of chips.

The Swings of Blaschke

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Manuel Blaschke had just busted an opponent to get back up to 90,000 but the profit didn't last long. The Austrian got involved in yet another pot shortly after and tried to buy the hand with a bet of 11,500 on the river of a {8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} board. The player to his left however made the call with {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for two pair and the Austrian had only rivered top pair.
