Day 2 Started

Who Will Be Crowned Inaugural APPT Manila Super High Roller Champion?

APPT Manila Super High Roller
APPT Manila Super High Roller

Just 20 players remain in the ₱500,000 APPT Manila Super High Roller as we crown a winner later today in the biggest buy-in event of the festival.

Leading the remaining field is Singapore's Graeme Siow, one of two players with a seven-figure stack when play resumes at 1 p.m. local time.

Siow has over $100,000 in lifetime earnings, with his biggest cash coming back in April 2017 when he finished 27th in the PokerStars Championship Macau Main Event for HK$130,500 ($16,791).

Close behind Siow is Xiaqing Ji who took down a short deck side event at the APPT stop in Incheon back in April.

Big stacks following closely behind Siow and Ji are Malaysia's Lee Wai Kiat (910,000), Wayne Heung (897,000) and Lester Edoc (888,000).

Plenty of big names are left in contention, including Junichi Nakanowatari (728,000), WSOP bracelet winners Mike Takayama (604,000) and Abhinav Iyer (551,000), APPT Jeju Main Event champion Huidong Gu (539,000), Xixiang Luo (299,000) and Raymond Wu (249,000).

The top seven places will be paid, and here are the payouts for the Super High Roller:

Ji Moves Into Chip Lead With Gu Elimination

On a {2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop Xiaqing Ji bet 38,000 and Huidong Gu raised to 98,000. Ji then re-raised to 238,000 and Gui used a time extension before re-raising all in for 530,000. Ji called.

Huidong Gu: {k-Spades}{9-Spades}
Xiaqing Ji: {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Gu got it in with king-high and surprisingly was ahead of the straight draw of Ji. However, the {3-Hearts} left him drawing dead as Ji completed his straight and the {k-Hearts} river was too little too late.

Nakanowatari Doubles Through Siow

It hasn't gone Graeme Siow's way so far today. The start of day chip leader was looking to get things back on track with Junichi Nakanowatari all in for 341,000.

Junichi Nakanowatari: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Graeme Siow: {k-}{j-}

Siow had the opportunity to knock out his opponent, but wasn't in great shape against pocket queens. The board was {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades} and Nakanowatari doubled up.

Ji Extends Chip Lead

Level 13 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Xiaqing Ji continues to dominate with close to two million in chips.

He opened from the button to 55,000 and Graeme Siow defended his big blind. The pair checked the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop and turn and the river was the {k-Spades}. Siow check-folded to 40,000 as the start-of-day chip leader fell to the bottom of the chip counts.

Hong Eliminated by Lee

Level 13 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Wai Kiat Lee opened to 40,000 and Jinho Hong three-bet all in for 351,000 from the big blind. Lee asked for a count before quickly calling.

Wai Kiat Lee: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Jinho Hong: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

There was a queen on the {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop to give Lee top pair and there was no help on the {4-Hearts}{j-Clubs} run out and Hong was eliminated.
