Hayashi Runs Out of Chips After Clash With Soyza

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Masamichi Hayashi
Masamichi Hayashi

Over on table nine, Michael Soyza ended up all-in and at risk for 131,000 out of the big blind after a {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop and was looked up by Japan's Masamichi Hayashi.

Michael Soyza: {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Masamichi Hayashi: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The {7-Clubs} turn improved Soyza to a full house and he only had to fear two outs. None of them came on the {5-Clubs} river and Hayashi was left with 8,000 in chips. He more than doubled in the next hand to then bust right after, and was joined on the rail by Lars Madsen as the field plummeted to 40 players.

Soyza Doubles Through Teh

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Michael Soyza
Michael Soyza

Michael Soyza was all-in for 103,000 before the flop and looked up by his better half Natalie Teh as they were flipping for it.

Michael Soyza: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Natalie Teh: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop kept Soyza ahead and he demanded "no picture" on the {j-Clubs} turn. There was a picture card that followed but it was the {j-Clubs} river that kept Soyza in contention.

"I tried guys," Teh said with a smile on the face while Soyza added "no chip dumping here guys, easy shove."

No Spades for Erquiaga

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
David Erquiaga
David Erquiaga

The final two hands of the previous level brought some massive chip changes over on table one.

On a three-way flop of {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Spades}, Valeriy Pak checked and Hoa Thinh Nguyen bet 14,000. David Erquiaga called on the button only for Pak to jam for nearly 200,000 in the big blind. Nguyen reluctantly folded and Erquiaga sigh-called after using a time bank.

Valeriy Pak: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
David Erquiaga: {k-Spades}{6-Spades}

The {6-Clubs} turn and {q-Clubs} river ensured the double for Pak while Erquiaga took a hit.

One more hand was to be played before the break and that dented the stack of Erquiaga further when he flipped with Paul Newey.

Paul Newey: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
David Erquiaga: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop gave Erquiaga middle pair and a gutshot. He added a flush draw with the {3-Spades} turn but bricked the {6-Clubs} river to be left very short. He is widely known as "Dave Spade" in the Filipino poker community but may have to change his alias now as the spades were no good.

Erquiaga was left with two and a half blinds for the new level and couldn't find a miracle comeback anymore.

Another Three Out in the Money

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Natalie Teh
Natalie Teh

Keita Minami was spotted on his way to the payout desk and Natalie Teh collected the pot.

The cards of Minami were already mucked while the board showed {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Teh had the winning hand with {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for a set of fours. According to several players at the table, Minami had bet the turn and jammed the river with {a-}{5-} when he missed the straight draw and only made a pair of fives on a four-card straight board.

Florencio Campomanes was the next to fall when his {a-Spades}{9-Clubs} failed to hold up against chip leader Nam Hyung Kim's {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Daniel Smiljkovic followed suit moments later.

Shi Eliminated on the Bubble

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Bubble Boy Guodong Shi
Bubble Boy Guodong Shi

Guodong Shi had escaped from elimination twice before and once he put his hopes on suited cards while the second time the ducks held. Just now he jammed a short stack from the cutoff and was called by Sofia Lovgren-Fullmer in the big blind.

Guodong Shi: {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Sofia Lovgren-Fullmer: {k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

The {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop gave Shi a ton of outs but he bricked the {4-Hearts} turn and {2-Spades} river to bow out on the bubble.

Lee Out Before the Money

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Hwany Lee
Hwany Lee

According to Hamish Crawshaw, Hwany Lee had suffered a nasty beat when his queens lost to ace-queen despite a queen on the flop.

He then faced a raise to 11,000 by Jianguo Zhou and Daniel Smiljkovic called in the small blind, as did Lee in the big blind. The flop came {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and it checked to Zhou and he bet 18,000. Smiljkovic checked his stack carefully and folded while Lee reluctantly jammed for around 70,000 to get called by Zhou.

Hwany Lee: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Jianguo Zhou: {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}

The {2-Clubs} turn and {6-Diamonds} river ensured that the kicker played and the field was reduced to the final 56 players. Once all hands are completed, a table will break and the action then continues hand-for-hand on the bubble.

Meerwais Hussaini
Meerwais Hussaini

The action started with an under-the-gun raise to 11,000 by Zhao Feng and Hak Do Kim then three-bet jammed for 67,000 in the small blind. Meerwais Hussaini called all-in out of the big blind for fewer than that and Feng snap-called both with the covering stack.

Meerwais Hussaini: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Hak Do Kim: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Zhao Feng: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and two players were sent to the rail as the field dropped to just 57 contenders.

Huu Dung Nguyen
Huu Dung Nguyen

Huu Dung Nguyen doubled through Renniel Galvez when his {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} was in no danger of being cracked by {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{8-Clubs} and the aces held.

Soon after, Nguyen was all-in preflop and up against Sofia Lovgren-Fullmer.

Huu Dung Nguyen: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Sofia Lovgren-Fullmer: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Nguyen improved to a set on the {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop and the {8-Spades} turn was a blank. However, the {j-Clubs} fell on the river and knocked out Nguyen. At the same time, Eric Wasylenko was eliminated two tables over and that reduced the field to the last 59 contenders.
