That's all she wrote from the PokerStars.net APPT Season 8 Asia Championship of Poker Main Event! After a 14-hour day, it was Gabriel Le Jossec who rose to the top to take the title and the HK$6,300,000 first-place prize money. Le Jossec defeated reigning champion Sunny Jung during heads-up play, denying the Korean professional back-to-back victories.

The first casualty of the day came on just the third hand of the final table. Tore Lukashaugen, the table short stack, three-bet all in over an open from Vladimir Troyanovkskiy. Troyanovkskiy called, and Lukashaugen showed the {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, but he was dominated by the Russian's {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}. A run out of {Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{J-Spades} ensured that Lukashaugen would fall in ninth place.

Shortly thereafter, Raiden Kan called all in for his tournament life also holding pocket eights. Kan was up against Jung's ace-king and fell behind after an ace on the flop. Kan was eliminated in eighth place and collected HK$813,100 for his finish.

Play then continued seven-handed for over two hours, with no player wanting to be the next to fall. Ultimately, the next to go was Joseph Cheong, whose top pair ran into Jung's pocket aces during a massive confrontation. Despite Cheong coming up short of the victory in the Main Event, he's had a spectacular week making two final tables. With this finish, Cheong pocketed an additional HK$1,080,000.

Russian Konstantin Pogodin was the next to go, eliminated at the hands of reigning Aussie Millions Main Event champion Ami Barer. Soon after Porodin's elimination, the other Russian at the table made his way to the exit in dramatic fashion. Troyanovskiy four-bet all in over a three-bet from Jung. Action folded back to Jung, and he called, showing the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Troyanovskiy had that beat, however, with the {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} in the hole. Troyanovskiy looked poised to double up and remain in contention for the title, but fate was not on his side as the flop came down {4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Spades} to give Jung a set of tens and a massive advantage heading to the turn. The board finished with the {2-Clubs} and the {3-Diamonds}, eliminating Troyanovskiy in fifth place.

Four-handed play was the next long stretch of the tournament, lasting several hours thanks to multiple short stacks doubling up. It all came to a head, however, when Barer moved all in with four to a flush and an over card against Jung's pocket kings. Barer failed to improve on the subsequent streets, and he was eliminated from play in fourth place.

Zuo "ST" Wang was then eliminated in third place, failing to improve with ace-jack against Jung's pocket nines. Wang took home HK$2,565,000 for his finish, and with this, Jung and Le Jossec were thrust into heads-up play with the former holding a significant lead.

The heads-up match went back and forth several times, with neither player refusing to quit. On one key hand, Jung flopped two pair only to have Le Jossec turn a better two pair. A series of bets and raises got all of the money in, and Le Jossec was able to score a full double. From there, he seized the chip lead and eventually put Jung against the ropes. On the final hand, Le Jossec flopped bottom set against Jung's flopped top two pair. All of the money went in, Jung was unable to improve, and Le Jossec was awarded the title of champion.

Sunny Jung Eliminated In 2nd Place (HK$4,250,000)

Level 30 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Sunny Jung - 2nd Place
Sunny Jung - 2nd Place

Sunny Jung opened for 165,000 and Gabriel Le Jossec made the call as Jung briefly removed his baseball cap and rubbed his neck to get some of the tension out.

The flop was {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. Le Jossec checked and Jung put out a bet of 200,000.

Le Jossec announced a raise to 510,000 and out went the chips. Jung again rubbed his neck while he thought about his next move. That move would be to announce a further raise to 510,000.

Le Jossec now took his time, pausing to take a few puffs on his vaporizer as the clock ticked towards 5 a.m. Le Jossec announced, “All in.” Jung made the call for his tournament life.

The crowds pressed round the table as the cards were turned on their backs.

Jung: {q-Spades}{6-Clubs}

Le Jossec: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}.

Jung had flopped two pair but Le Jossec was ahead with bottom set. The turn card was the {a-Clubs} and finally the river was dealt the {8-Clubs}.

It was all over. Le Jossec cheered and went to his ecstatic rail before returning quickly to shake the hand of the defeated champ. There was to be no back-to-back win for Jung but nevertheless a hugely impressive second place.

Sunny Jung raised to 160,000 from the button and Gabriel Le Jossec called from the big blind. The flop fell {5-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Le Jossec check-called a continuation bet of 90,000. The {J-Hearts} hit the turn and Le Jossec checked again. Jung bet 220,000 only to have Le Jossec come over the top with a check-raise to 630,000. Jung went into the tank for about two minutes before announcing that he was all in. Le Jossec called for his own tournament life of 1.84 million and the hands were exposed.

Le Jossec: {J-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}
Jung: {9-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}

Both players held two pair with Le Jossec's jacks and deuces reigning supreme. The {a-Diamonds} finished the board and Le Jossec was about to score the double to 4.05 million.

On the previous hand Sunny Jung had opened and folded to a shove from Zuo 'ST' Wang. Le Jossec left them to it.

Wang: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Jung: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The final board read {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Wang, who had survived for so long and so valiantly was at last out in third place.

Gabriel Le Jossec

Sunny Jung opened to 100,000 from the button and Gabriel Le Jossec three-bet to 275,000 from the small blind. Action folded back to Jung and he called to see a flop.

The dealer put out {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Le Jossec continued out for 220,000. Jung called and the {6-Hearts} hit the felt on the turn. Le Jossec kept up his aggression, moving out a bet of 420,000. Jung stayed the course to see the {A-Hearts} pair the board on the river. Le Jossec thought for right around two minutes before announcing a three-barrel all in for 785,000. This bet sent Jung deep into the tank. Minutes ticked away on the clock as Jung riffled chips and pondered his action. Right around the five minute mark, Jung grabbed a stack of chips and slid them out into the middle.

Le Jossec showed {A-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for trip aces with a jack kicker. Jung shook his head and flashed {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for the second best hand before his cards were pulled into the muck. Le Jossec scored the double and now has 3.6 million to his name.

Ami Barer - 4th Place

Sunny Jung had first action and opened to 65,000 before the flop. Gabriel Le Jossec called from the button and Ami Barer came along from the big blind. The dealer fanned a flop of {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Barer checked. Jung continued for 160,000, prompting a fold from Le Jossec. Barer instantly moved all in for about 800,000 and Jung called him just as quick.

Jung: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Barer: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Jung led with his pocket kings, but Barer was drawing live with both an over card and four to a heart flush. The {K-Clubs} on the turn removed some of Barer's outs, giving Jung top set of kings. The {Q-Clubs} finished the board and Barer became the fourth place finisher, collecting HK$2,025,000 in prize money.

Sunny Jung - Back On Top

After twenty minutes of small ball and swapping pots the following hand broke out.

Ami Barer opened for 100,000 and got called by Sunny Jung on the button and big blind Zuo 'ST' Wang. The three of them saw a flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}. Barer made it 160,000 when it was checked to him and Jung raised to 440,000.

With Wang out of the way Barer announced all in and with a look back at his cards Jung made the call.

Barer: {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

Jung: {6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Barer was on the straight draw and Jung had a pair with the flush draw.

The turn {7-Clubs} gave Barer the better pair but the river {4-Clubs} gave Jung the two pair and he let out a cry of relief as he got a big double up to stay in contention to win back-to-back titles .

Le Jossec Spikes River to Double Through Jung

Level 26 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Gabriel Le Jossec
Gabriel Le Jossec

Gabriel Le Jossec raised to 85,000 from under the gun and action folded over to Sunny Jung in the big blind. He three-bet the action to 220,000 only to have Le Jossec four-bet ship for 1.26 million. Jung called and the hands were exposed.

Le Jossec: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Jung: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Jung was in a commanding position heading to the community cards. The flop came down {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}, keeping Jung's ace high in the lead but giving Le Jossec a few additional outs with an inside straight draw. The {4-Clubs} fell on the turn, meaning Le Jossec needed to improve in order to stay alive. He did exactly that as the {K-Spades} completed the board on the river, giving Le Jossec a winning pair of kings.

Le Jossec doubled to 2.6 million while Jung dropped to about 1.85 million.

Ami Barer opened the cutoff to 60,000 and Sunny Jung three-bet to 150,000 from the button. Vladimir Troyanovskiy was in the small blind and he announced a four-bet all in for 915,000. Action folded back to Barer who kick it in as well. Jung went into the tank for about three minutes before he called the raise.

Jung: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Troyanovskiy: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Troyanovskiy was in a dominating position with his pocket queens, but that all change in a flash after the flop came down {4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{K-Clubs}. Jung jumped into the lead with a flopped set of tens and suddenly Troyanovskiy was two cards away from elimination. The {2-Clubs} hit the turn and Troyanovskiy started shaking hands with his opponents. The {3-Diamonds} completed the board and Jung scored the elimination, boosting his stack to about 4.2 million in chips.

Konstantin Pogodin - 6th Place

Konstantin Pogodin opened the action for 50,000 under the gun and Ami Barer sat to his left raised him to 144,000. The other players got out of the way and Pogodin made the call.

The flop was {2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} and Pogodin checked. Barer bet 72,000 and Pogodin went for a check-raise to 200,000. The stack sizes of the two players were very similar and Barer made the call.

The turn card was the {8-Clubs} and Pogodin moved all in. Barer’s hands went to his face as if this is what he had been dreading, but he made the call and flipped over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}.

Pogodin tapped the table and then showed his {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The river card was the {5-Diamonds}. No jack for Pogodin and when the stacks were counted down Barer just had the edge to bust the Russian in sixth place.
