Nelson Going Strong

In a battle of the blinds, Lee Nelson raises it up to 13,000 from the small blind and his opponent in the big blind makes the call.

The flop brings {Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Nelson leads out for 18,000. The big blind thinks for a moment before folding his hand, and Nelson rakes in another pot. He is currently in control of his table and has more than 200,000 in chips.

Sorry Baby

Kenny Ng
Kenny Ng
In a huge pot with the board reading {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, Kenny Ng fires out 96,000 on the river into Scotty Nguyen. Scotty thinks for a few moments before making the call. Ng says "Sorry baby" and flips over {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the straight which is enough to rake in the 250,000 chip pot as Scotty mucks his hand.

Van Marcus Eliminated

Van Marcus
Van Marcus
A short-stacked Van Marcus moved all in before the flop holding A-7 and was called by Craig Gray who tabled pocket queens. Tournament chip leader Henrik Gwinner also considered making the call with his pocket fives, but decided to lay them down before the flop. Lucky for him, it was the right move, as both he and Craig hit sets on the Q-8-5 flop - Craig's being the larger of the two. Marcus picked up an open-ended straight draw when a six fell on the turn, but the ace that fell on the river sealed his fate.

Bergren's Big Blind Bliss

In a battle of the blinds Sol Bergren sees a flop holding a weak looking {J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. But on the flop of {J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, his hand suddenly became a monster. When his opponent raised the flop, Bergren was happy to commit his chips. His opponent called and had Bergren covered, but was in terrible shape with {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for nothing but a weaker flush draw. When the {J-Spades} landed on the turn, Bergren's opponent was drawing dead, boosting Bergren to over 400,000 in chips.

Play Slows Down

The action has been fast and furious this afternoon, but with 64 players now remaining the play has slowed down considerably in the last few orbits. Players are now aware that there are only eight more eliminations before they reach the money and play has tightened up accordingly.
