Joe Hachem Eliminated

Hachem's Elimination Hand
Hachem's Elimination Hand
In a limped pot, five players including 2005 WSOP Champion Joe Hachem, took the flop of {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

It was checked around to Barry Kohlhoff on the button who fired 15,000 into the pot. The action folds around to Hachem who makes the call with {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

The turn brings the {4-Hearts} and Kohlhoff bets another 30,000 chips. Hachem, who has now picked up a flush draw, goes into the tank before making the call.

The river proves to be a terrible card for Hachem as the {8-Clubs} now gives him a full house. He checks and Kohlhoff goes all in for his last 42,000 in chips. Hachem makes the call but Kohlhoff flips over {9-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for the bigger boat.

Hachem is crippled and only has enough chips for the 500 chip ante next hand. He has {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and his opponent Guillaume Patry has {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. The board comes {4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} giving Patry a full house and crowd favorite Joe Hachem is eliminated from the event just short of the money.

Players Starting To Feel The Pressure

With 58 players remaining, Aleks Lackovic had a massive decision on a board of {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. The pot was worth around 250,000 and Lackovic was in deep deliberation, pondering a call holding a six for the bottom end of the full house.

After a full five minutes, the tournament directors call time on him. With the clock ticking down to the final few seconds, Lackovic was about to call but the clock beat him and his hand was declared dead as the pot was pushed to his opponent!

Alex Estrellado Doubles Through Karib Karib

Karib Karib
Karib Karib
Karib Karib of Australia just lost a good chunk of his chips to Alex Estrellado after he called Estrellado's all in holding {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, with the board showing {Q-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}; Alex tabled pocket kings.

The turn and river blanked out, giving Estrellado the pot and 430,000 in chips. Karib dropped to 300,000 after the hand.

Money Bubble

With only 57 players remaining we are officially "on the bubble" as the tournament is now being played hand-for-hand. The next unfortunate player to be eliminated will walk away with nothing while everyone else in the room will be guaranteed at least AUD$8000.

Karib Karib Flashing Aces

In successive hands, players have raised from late position and Karib Karib has come over the top with his big stack to force his opponents to a make or break decision for all of their chips. Each time his opponent folded and Karib flashed an ace before adding the chips to his impressive stack.

We're In The Money...Finally!

The bubble has finally burst at the hands of Karib Karib.

After frustrating his table with constant overbets, Karib Karib finally finds some resistance Steve Wise who held pocket kings. Karib held {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and was going to need some help, but amazingly the flop arrives {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Karib has flopped the nut straight. The turn is the {J-Diamonds} and river {A-Hearts} and Steve Wise is terribly unlucky to be eliminated on the bubble.

The poker area erupts into applause as the remaining 56 players now head into a well deserved 10 minute break with an extra AUD$8,000 in their pockets.

Grant Levy Bad Beat But Not Too Costly

Grant Levy is relieved that his opponent was only short stacked when the following hand went down:

Levy: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and Levy had flopped a full house! Unbelievably the turn and river came {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Levy's full house had been counterfeited and the pot was pushed to his opponent! Levy was quite relieved that the pot was only worth 30,000 chips!
