Suzuki Tanks But Doubles

Hon Ming Kim Lee moved all in from under the gun for about 14,000 and the action folded around to Hayato Suzuki in the small blind. Suzuki went into the tank for a long time before eventually calling off his last 12,500 chips.

Lee: {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Suzuki: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{J-Diamonds} giving Lee a flush draw but the {Q-Spades} on the turn and {6-Clubs} on the river left him with only 1,500 chips as Suzuki, after much hesitation, finds a double up to 28,000 chips.

Play Tightens

Although we've lost 21 players already today, the play on the tables has started to now tighten up as players start to think about making it into the money. The top 40 players will receive a minimum of US$6,000 which means that the next six players eliminated today will go home empty-handed!

Bonzon Flops Nuts

Richard Bonzon
Richard Bonzon
Richard Bonzon has taken down a huge pot to fly up to 120,000 chips.

The action flop was {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{K-Spades} with Bonzon's opponent tabling {K-?}{J-?} for top two pair, but it would need to improve as Bonzon had flopped the nuts with his {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

The turn and river both bricked {2-Clubs}, {4-Hearts}, and Bonzon sent one to the rail as he joins the chip leaders.

Diaz Claims Chip Lead

Julio Diaz
Julio Diaz
Julio Diaz has emerged as a clear chip leader after clashing with an opponent on a flop of {8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

Diaz held {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for a flush draw with overcards again his opponent's {J-Diamonds}{10-?} for top pair.

The turn blanked the {4-Diamonds} but the river was the {10-Hearts} completing the flush for Diaz skyrocketing him up to 150,000 chips.

Honeybone High and Dry

James Honeybone is the latest Day 1 survivor to be eliminated on Day 2. It was a limped pot between Carter Gill in the small blind and Honeybone in the big blind. The flop was very ragged, coming down {6-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {2-Hearts}. Gill checked, then called when Honeybone made it 2,500 to go.

On the {Q-Spades} turn, Gill again checked. This time Honeybone fired out for 3,500. Gill check-raised to 11,000, leading Honeybone to reraise all in for about 30,000. Gill made a quick call and tabled {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}, a hand which had out-turned Honeybone's {J-Clubs} {4-Hearts}. The river {10-Hearts} missed both players, allowing Gill to drag the pot and send Honeybone packing.

With that pot, Gill's stack jumped to about 84,000.

Levy Doubles Through Gill

Grunter Cracks Century
Grunter Cracks Century
With a limp in front of him, Carter Gill made it 6,000 to go from late position. Grant Levy then raised it up again, making it 16,500 in total. The blinds folded as did the limper, before Gill moved all in. Levy snap-called.

Levy: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Gill: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The board fell {7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Levy finds a huge double-up, with Gill falling to 48,000.

After the hand Julian Powell quipped, "How much Grant?"

Levy replied "Well I shipped 46,000."

"So you're on the final table!" laughed Powell as Levy stacked up over 100,000 in chips.

Timoshenko Avoids Dunst

A player in middle position made it 4,200 before Yevgeniy Timoshenko popped it up to 12,600 from the cutoff. The action passed to Tony Dunst in the big blind who moved all in for an additional 33,500 chips. The middle-position player folded and Timoshenko went into the tank.

"Well I snap-call against you," pondered Timoshenko, referring to the MP player, before deciding to avoid a clash with Dunst.

Dunst climbs to 61,000 with Timoshenko falling to 53,000.

Chong Wing Cheong on a Tear

Chong Wing Cheong from Day 1a action.
Chong Wing Cheong from Day 1a action.
Chong Wing Cheong has rocketed up the leaderboard in the first hour to assume the title of chip leader. He recently eliminated an opponent when they both got all of their chips in the middle on a {5-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {7-Hearts} flop. Cheong had the greater number of chips and tabled {Q-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} for top pair. He was up against his opponent's {9-Hearts} {2-Hearts} flush draw. The turn {2-Spades} gave his opponent more outs, but Cheong dodged them all when the river fell {3-Spades}.

Cheong now has about 130,000.
