Hamagami Takes One From Karamalikis

Jonathan Karamalikis made it 10,500 to go from under-the-gun and was immediately followed by Clark Hamagami making it a further 26,000. Karamalikis made the call and checked the flop of {10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs} to Hamagami.

Hamagami returned the favour, but with the {A-Diamonds} landing on the turn he led out for 23,500 after Karamalikis called. The river fell the {9-Clubs} and both players tanked before making their decision to check. Hamagami rolled over {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Karamalikis mucked sending the pot Hamagami's way and up to 200,000.

Larry Karambis opened with a raise to 15,000 and was met with a 52,000 reraise from Clark Hamagami. Karambis then announced all in and Hamagami made the call.

Hamagami: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Karambis: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

The flop of {9-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades} would pretty much put a lock on proceedings and with the {A-Spades} falling on the turn Karambis was resigned to the fact his tournament was over; one short of the spot he finished last year.

As Karambis stood up to shake hands with the remaining three opponents, the dealer dropped the {7-Spades} on the river to rub salt into the wounds of Karambis as he collected AU$53,927 for his 4th place finish.

Kassis Left Short

On a board reading {2-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} Mark Kassis called a 10,000-chip bet from Clark Hamagami.

The river landed the {6-Diamonds} and Hamagami bet out 23,000 and Kassis insta-called. Hamagami tabled {Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and Kassis' cards were in the muck just as fast as Hamagami climbed to 461,000.

Kassis now sits with 85,000 in chips; well behind his other two tablemate's.

Karamalikis Takes One Back

Clark Hamagami popped it up on the button to 15,000 and found a caller in Jonathan Karamalikis.

Karamalikis then led for 21,000 on the flop of {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Hamagami called. The turn fell the {K-Spades} and Karamalikis again led for 20,000 and Hamagami made the call. The river landed the {10-Spades} and Karamalikis made it 20,000 to go which was followed by Hamagami laying his hand down.

With that pot Karamalikis jumps back to 350,000 in chips and now sits only a few big blinds behind Hamagami.

Kassis Hits Three-Outer

Mark Kassis opened with a raise to 18,000 on the button and when the action was placed on Clark Hamagami in the big blind he moved all in. Kassis sat in the tank for over two minutes before making the call and seeing that he was in bad shape up against Hamagami {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} with his {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

With Kassis' railbirds chanting for a ten, their wish would be granted when the flop fell {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Needing to avoid a jack to stay alive in the tournament Kassis would be relieved to see the {9-Diamonds} and {4-Hearts} land on the turn and river doubling Kassis up to 225,000 as Hamagami slipped to 270,000 in chips.

Karamalikis called the bet and when faced with 46,500 to call on the river of the {J-Clubs} he sat in the tank for over a minute before calling. Hamagami tabled {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Karamalikis showed the {A-Spades} and mucked.

With that pot Hamagami jumped back to the chip lead sitting on 370,000 as Karamalikis slipped to 280,000.
