Channing Crushes Kostritsyn

Neil Channing
Neil Channing
Alexander Kostritsyn has been forced to do two double rebuys back-to-back at the hands of Neil Channing.

In the first hand, it was Channing's {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} holding against Kostritsyn's {K-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. After doing a double rebuy for AUD$2,000 Kostritsyn moved all in under the gun and Channing made the call.

Again Channing tabled {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Kostritsyn looked in bad shape holding {9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Channing hit a set on a board reading {J-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and stated, "I haven't hit a set since last year!" as he raked in the pot sending him to 13,000 as Kostritsyn was forced to rebuy again.

Ace High Takes it Down

Over on Table 32, a three-way all-in saw Mick Guttman emerge victorious holding {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts} against Ben Delaney's {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} and Jonathan Karamalikis' {5-Spades} {4-Hearts}.

Delaney commented before the community cards came out, "I'm in such good shape, how can I lose this? This is such a beat if I lose!" Unfortunately for Delaney, the board ran out {6-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {8-Spades} {2-Spades} {K-Spades} as Guttman's ace high took it down.

Guttman is sitting with about 6,000 while Delaney slips to 2,000. Jonathan Karamalikis is starting over after taking the option to rebuy.

Khouiss Understands

"Let's get this rebuy s**t over so we can start playing real poker!" stated Sam Khouiss as he folded yet another hand.

With 15 minutes remaining in play, players will be looking to build a stack at the expense of others, as play will soon be returning to normal.

Exciting Table But Soon to Break

The secondary feature table features some of the biggest names in Australian poker. Kent Hunter, Jim Sachinidis, Minh Nguyen, Sam Youssef, Rayan Nathan and Julian Powell.

Powell recently took a nice pot of Nathan after flat-calling Nathan's bet on a flop of {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. After Nathan checked the turn of the {K-Clubs} Powell bet enough to put Nathan all in for his last 4,000. Nathan sat in the tank for over a minute before folding.

As Powell raked in the pot sending him close to 10,000 he flashed {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} and mucked. With all the great players on this table, it will however be the first to break.

Just Spotted . . .

Stanislav Alekhin has just been spotted in today's field sporting an Australian floppy hat.

For those of you that don't know, Alekhin came second to John Juanda in the WSOP Europe Main Event in early October.

Rebuy MADNESS!

With only a few minutes remaining in play, players will be going a little rebuy mad so as to amass a large stack.

Stay tuned for updated counts on all the notable players when we return from the break.

Portaro Tilts Table

Bruno Portaro
Bruno Portaro
Bruno Portaro has just wandered over to the PokerNews desk to chat with our reporters, "I tilted our table on that last hand. It went all in, all in, all in, and so I called with ace-queen . . . They tabled eights, ace-king and ace-king . . . BANG queen on the board and I won!"

Portaro is loving the rebuy madness and now sits with 10,000 in chips.

Break Time

Level 2 has just ended as players are going on a 20-minutes break. The rebuy period is coming to an end as players have the option of a single or double add-on, AU$1,000 for 1,500 chips or AU$2,000 for 3,000 chips, regardless of their stack size.
