Want action?

Come get some. We're sure to see plenty of big action today in the rebuy format. Rebuys have gone out of fashion lately with a lot of tournament directors, but the bloggers and a lot of players seem to like them, so we're excited about today's event.

Today's event will boast two 45-minute rebuy levels, where players may rebuy anytime they get to 1,500 chips or less. After that we will be playing one hour levels for the rest of the tournament. The starting stack is 1,500 which means that players can rebuy from the get-go.

Stay locked here on PokerNews, we'll be underway in less than 30 minutes.

Who's Here?

Most of the tables only have a few seats occupied, but here's who we've spotted around the room.

Annette Obrestad
Neil Channing
Jonathan Karamalikis
Dean Nyberg
Barney Boatman
John Myung
Shane Warne
Bruno Portaro
Trung Tran
Benny Spindler
Lee Nelson

There's also one player seated at his own table. Some might look at this like an advantage, but the player seems a little bit upset that he can't start playing. If he's trying to gamble it up and build a stack in the rebuy period, he's losing time to do so. The dealer is not allowed to deal to him until three players are seated at the table. Hopefully, that happens soon.

Ready to Donk It Up

"I'm kind of hoping I don't go deep today because i've organised a drunken kickball game tomorrow," Tony Dunst told us as we wandered past the tables.

Of course the wad of $50 notes in front of him told a different story. "But, oh yeah I'm ready to donk it up," said Dunst with a grin.

Annette Wasting No Time

Fittingly, Annette Obrestad one of the queens of poker got her first big double up with pocket queens. She and an unknown opponent got their stacks into the middle, Obrestad showing {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and her opponent {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

The board rolled out {2-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Obrestad is up to 8,500.

Bad Beat For Bruno

Bruno Portaro was back at it again after losing one rebuy to Shane Warne already. There were three all in players preflop.

Hijack: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Cutoff: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Portaro: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Portaro spiked his set on the {9-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop and was in good shape for a triple up. The turn was a brick, but the {j-Diamonds} on the river snatched the pot away from Portaro leaving him reeling.

"I'm not rebuying after that s**t," he said before pulling out a couple of $1,000 chips to do just that.

Stone Cold Bluff

On a flop of {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs} Andrew Hinrichsen check-raised to 450 over Daniel Neilson. Neilson made th call and the {3-Diamonds} hit the turn. Hinrichsen led out 850 which Neilson flat called.

The river was the {7-Diamonds} and this time Hinrichsen grabbed 2,200 in chips and tossed them out. This was enough to set Neilson all in and he didn't hesitate flicking his remaining 2,100 into the middle.

Hinrichsen let out a huff and mucked his cards before any showdown. Neilson responded in kind mucking his cards and stacking up close to 7,000 in chips.
