Dwan Dominating

Dwan (during High Rollers Challenge): just one player on the "table of death"
Dwan (during High Rollers Challenge): just one player on the "table of death"
The action folded around to Australia's Luke Thomas who raised before the flop to 625. Tom "durrrr" Dwan called from the small blind to go heads-up to a flop of {5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

Dwan led out to 1,275, but Thomas made it 3,100 to go. Dwan called, then both players checked down the {q-Diamonds} on the turn.

Dwan then fired out 15,000 when the dealer produced the {4-Clubs} on the river, enough to put Thomas all in. Thomas went into the tank for about two minutes before tapping the table and throwing his hand into the muck.

Having qualified through a local pub poker league in Melbourne, Thomas has a huge task ahead of him, down to 13,000 in chips and sharing space with not only Dwan, but Phil Ivey, Billy "the Croc" and Raymond Rahme.

Meanwhile the man they call "durrrr" is cruising on 50,000 in chips.

Not Enough Action?

Yes folks, for those of you that need more than one tournament to follow during the day you are in luck. PokerNews is also covering the $550 PokerPro no-limit hold'em shootout event. While the updates won't be as fast and furious there as they are here, we can guarantee one thing which the Main Event coverage won't have today - a winner.

Aristidou Accumulates

Peter Aristidou
Peter Aristidou
With a raise to 550 from middle position, Peter Aristidou made the call out of the big blind and the two player saw a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Aristidou checked and then called the bet of 800.

When the {7-Spades} landed on the turn Aristidou decided to lead out with a bet of 1,600 and his opponent made the call to see the {8-Spades} fall on the river. Aristidou again fired out, this time for 3,000 with his opponent making the call.

Aristidou showed {8-Clubs}{7-?} for a full house, which was good as he chips up to 25,500.

Ship It to New Zealand!

New Zealander Phillip Willcocks has just catapulted to the top of the leaderboard with the recent elimination of Pete Mobbs.

On a board showing {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, Willcocks and Mobbs traded raises until eventually getting it all in; Willcocks with {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Mobbs with pocket aces.

The turn and river then filled out {9-Clubs}, {3-Hearts} giving Willcocks a full house to improve to 69,000 in chips.

Andrew Brown Busto

Brown (during $1,100 H.O.R.S.E.): eliminated
Brown (during $1,100 H.O.R.S.E.): eliminated
On a board that read {8-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, Daniel Neilson led out for 14,000 into Andrew Brown.

Brown looked anxious as he squirmed in his seat, stood up, sat back down again and then cut down and restacked his chips several times.

The process lasted for about five minutes; eventually Brown moved all in for slightly more than the original 14,000 bet from Neilson.

Neilson snap-called, tabling {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for two pair. Brown mucked and headed straight to the rail.

Neilson is now up to 44,000 after that hand.

A Hole in the Pocket

Clothing designer Chris Chronis has just been eliminated from the Main Event by new big stack Joe Sevian.

Chronis moved all in over the top of Sevian's 1,200 flop bet holding {J-Spades}{8-Spades} on an {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades} board and Sevian made the call holding a pocket pair of queens.

The turn and river then filled out {6-Diamonds}, {Q-Hearts} giving Sevian a set to eliminate Chronis from the tournament.

Rubie Rising

One of Australia's rising young guns Brendon Rubie has chipped up to 29,000 and looking strong. In a recent hand Rubie check-raised the river on a board of {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, making it 3,600 to go after his opponent originally bet 1,100. Rubie forced a fold and took it down.

Mirzikinian Sends Saab Packing

David Saab
David Saab
The Crown Poker Room is a whole lot quieter following the elimination of the boisterous David Saab.

The action was recalled to us by table mate Kenneth Damm who advised us that Manny Stavropoulos limped into the pot before Warwick Mirzikinian popped it to 700. Saab then re-raised to 2,000 with Mirzikinian the lone caller.

They saw a flop of {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} and Mirzikinian checked to the aggressive Saab who fired 2,500. Mirzikinian then check-raised to 7,000. Saab deliberated and sighed, "I should be a man and fold..." but he didn't as he moved all in with Mirzikinian insta-calling.

Saab: {Q-?}{10-?}
Mirzikinian: {A-?}{A-?}

Saab needed to improve but the turn and river missed him to send him to an early exit as Mirzikinian jumps up to 62,000 chips.
