Julius Colman took down a pot on the river when his opponent check-called his 1,200 bet and Colman turned over for trip fives on a board. His opponent showed before mucking his cards.
Colman put a few more chips on his stack bringing it to 22,000.
It's been a rough first round for boxing great Jeff Fenech. He's just taken another left jab, this time from DeucesCracked pro Jay Rosenkrantz. After being the preflop aggressor, Rosenkrantz check-called on all three streets on a board of as Fenech was caught firing with for just ace-high as Rosenkrantz collected a nice pot with for two pair.
Fenech slips to 11,800 with Rosenkrantz up to 24,000.
Over at Annette Obrestad's table, Michael Thorpe was talking to her about all of her accomplishments and said, "It's a pretty great accomplishment for a female." To which Neil Channing, who recently took his seat, piped up and said, "For a female," and the three had a laugh.
We caught the three talking agin a little later.
"It's hard to meet girls outside of poker. It's really good to find a good honest wholesome girl, a girl who's not a gold digger," said Thorpe, shortly before asking Annette out later to get a drink.
There's plenty of table talk happening on table 26 today, ever since the floor had to be called to rule on a player who accidentally raised instead of calling on the very first hand of play.
It hasn't stopped from there.
We just overheard Dani Stern exchange his concerns with another player who was motioning to fold before it was his turn to act. Stern explained that it maybe unfair but the player defended himself by saying that he can do what he liked before it was his turn as he didn't actually release his cards.
"Well I didn't say it was against the rules," continued Stern, "I can angle shoot too if you want..."
The rather animated discussion continued until George Moussa had seen enough.
"Are you finished?" Moussa posed to Stern, and waited until the talk died down before acting on his hand.
Most recently the floor had to be called once again after a player had acted out of turn.
"There's too much conversation at this table," commented one astute player.
It hasn't seen to deter Stern too much as he's been steamrolling them in the early goings to chip up to around 30,000 chips.
We only caught the action on the river, but saw enough to see why Vanessa Selbst is one of the most feared players in the game.
The board read when Selbst check-raised her opponent's bet of 1,200 to make it 4,700 to go. Her opponent went into the tank and was pained by the decision. Selbst eventually called the clock and her opponent make a crying call before the clock timed out.
"King is good," said Selbst as she revealed . Her opponent tabled to take it down.
Gary Benson has just made a big laydown on a flop of . An under the gun player checked and Benson fired 1,100. His opponent then check-raised to 3,000.
Benson cringed and said, "You must have flopped a set. I'm making a big laydown...I had pocket kings!"
