The second elimination of the night has just occurred. Daniel Neilson moved all in and was called by Justin Walch.
Neilson:
Walch:
The flop brought the and , giving Neilson a gutshot straight draw. No help to Neilson, the fell on the turn, giving Walch two pair. Neilson would need a ten to take down the pot and keep his tournament hopes alive, but it would not be, as the hit the river.
Action was folded around to the blinds and Justin Walch, from the small blind, made it 14,000 to go. Not to be outdone, Andrew Teng made it 58,000 (or 72,000 total) more to Walch, leaving 42,000 behind.
Walch deliberated the raise, which was for most of his stack, for a couple of minutes, looking at his cards then back at the raise. After a bit more, he slid his cards toward the muck, giving Teng the pot.
Justin Walch is running on fumes right now, having been smashed by Jack Powell but has managed to double up twice to keep his hopes alive at this final table.
The action folded to Powell who open-shoved from the button with before Walch woke up in the small blind with . Unfortunately for the Walch fans on the rail, Powell hit his king on the board of to double up to 260,000.
This left Walch with just 13,000, which he promptly jammed into the middle on the very next hand with , leaving Barry Drysdale to make up the difference in the big blind with , but Walch kept the lead all the way down the board of .
In the very next hand, James Keys raised to 16,500 from the early position with and the action folded around to Walch who shoved from the button with . Keys called, but despite hitting a Broadway draw on the flop of , Walch doubled up yet again after the turn and river bricked out , .
Walch is now on about 50,000 in chips and we've still got eight players!
Soren Blanner made it 18,000 to go preflop and it was folded around to Jack Powell in the big blind. He opted to make the call and the flop came down .
Powell checked to Blanner who tossed in a bet of 18,000. Powell made the call and the fell on the turn. Both players checked and the hit the river.
Powell checked and Blanner bet 33,000. Powell thought for a few seconds and grabbed the appropriate amount of calling chips. He soon tossed them in and Blanner tabled . It was no good however, because Powell was holding pocket jacks.
He moved up to 345,000 while Blanner is down to 225,000.
