Chris Ferguson Eliminated in 8th Place

Level 9 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Chris Ferguson - 8th Place
Chris Ferguson - 8th Place

Tony Bloom opened his button to 24,000 only to have a short-stacked Chris Ferguson push roughly his last 60,000 into the pot from the small blind. Bloom instantly made the call to put the five-time WSOP bracelet holder at risk.

Ferguson: {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Bloom: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}

With Ferguson trailing and needing to spike a three-outer to stay alive, the {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{A-Diamonds} flop wouldn't change his predicament.

The {4-Clubs} on the turn prevented any backdoor chops for Ferguson, and after the {2-Diamonds} completed the community cards, Ferguson was forced to hit the rail in eighth place as Bloom moves to roughly 300,000 in chips.

Bloom Ships Turn

Level 9 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Jeffrey Lisandro opened to 25,000 from middle position as Tony Bloom defended his big blind to see a {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} flop fall.

Bloom checked and Lisandro continued for 25,000 only to have Bloom slid out a check-raise amounting to 65,000.

Lisandro used his full time bank before making the call as the {K-Diamonds} rolled off on the turn.

"I'm all in!" announced Bloom for roughly his remaining 175,000.

Lisandro quickly passed as Bloom collected the pot to move to 445,000 in chips while Lisandro slips to 340,000 in chips.

Another for the Chip Leader

Level 9 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Erik Seidel opened with a raise to 24,000 from middle position. Sam Trickett three-bet from the small blind to 57,000. Seidel made the call and off to a flop they went.

The flop came down paired with the {3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Trickett's continuation bet of 56,000 prompted a quick fold from Seidel and this hand was over with.

Where Is James Obst?

Level 9 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

James Obst has been a machine at today's final table.

A folding machine.

The normally aggressive Obst is yet to play a pot and has folded every hand without too much hesitation.

The usually calm Obst, is well and truly that, calm as he has seen his stack slide down to 500,000.

We on the PokerNews blogging desk are expecting him to come to life soon!

Sam Trickett opened to 24,000 from under the gun only to have James Obst three-bet next to act to 65,000.

The blinds swiftly passed as the action returned to Trickett who cut out a raise amounting to 110,000 after using his full time bank to make a decision.

Obst kicked his cards to the muck while slipping to roughly 430,000 while Trickett moved to 1,450,000 in chips.

Time Expires for Lisandro

Level 9 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

David Steicke limped in, as did David Benyamine before James Obst made it 43,000 from the small blind.

With the action on Jeffrey Lisandro, he looked visibly distressed as he pondered a decision.

As his final ten seconds was called, Lisandro sat there contemplating before his thirty-time bank expired.

"Sorry sir, your hand is now dead!" stated the dealer.

"So, my hand is dead?" asked Lisandro.

"Yes" responded the dealer as Lisandro took another peek down at his hole cards before sliding them to the muck.

Steicke and Benyamine folded too as Obst was pushed his first pot of the final table.

Obst with the Better Kicker

Level 9 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

From the button, James Obst raised to 22,000. Erik Seidel defended with a call from the big blind and the flop came down {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Both players checked and the turn brought the {3-Diamonds} to pair the board. Seidel led with a bet of 25,000 and got raised to 66,000 by Obst. Seidel paused and then made the call.

The river completed the board with the {10-Clubs}, double pairing the board. Both players checked and the hands were opened.

Seidel showed the {9-Hearts}{6-}, but lost to Obst's {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Obst's queen kicker played and he won the pot.
