Kanaan Can Do

When we came to Michael Kanaan's table there was a board showing {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Kanaan going up against one opponent. It was at this point that we noticed there was over 10,000 already in the pot.

After only a few moments thought, Kanaan shipped his stack all in. His opponent then went into the tank before eventually throwing his cards away. The nice pot was sent to Kanaan and he now sits with a very healthy stack.

Bloom & Zmukic Hit the Rail

Vesko Zmukic got his last 1,700 all in preflop holding {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and was called by an opponent holding {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}. Zmukic held live cards, but couldn't catch as the board ran out an uneventful {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

Meanwhile, 2004 Aussie Millions Champion Tony Bloom has been eliminated from the tournament.

Wing Sharing

By the time the board had ran out {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{6-Clubs} , Tom Wing and one opponent had committed a fair chunk of their stacks. Usually in this situation we may be writing about how one opponent added to their stack and one opponent needs some help to stay alive. However, this wasn't the case after both players turned their hands over.

Wing: {7-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The two players exchanged a quick glance and friendly nod as the pot was split in half.

Budin Busted; Skender Scooping

Benn Skender has just dealt the fatal blow to Josh Budin with the hand playing out as follows.

The action was opened by Skender to 750 and when the play flew around to Josh Budin, he shipped his stack in. Budin had under 5,000 and Skender quickly flung a stack of 1,000 denomination chips onto the felt.

Budin turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}, while Skender would need a little bit of help with his {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. The {8-Spades}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{5-Spades} board was enough for Skender to take down the pot and send Budin out of the tournament area.

Drewe Playing Big-Stack Poker

With about 12,000 in the pot and a board reading {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs}, a player in middle position bet 3,500 only to have Martin Drewe grab a stack of grey T1,000 chips and slam them in the pot, constituting a raise of 16,500 more. His opponent, who had about 15,000 behind, thought for about 45 seconds before flicking his cards to the muck. With that, Drewe is up over 50,000.

Hinrichsen Moving Up

Andrew Hinrichsen is currently sitting in front of a nice looking stack with the following hand one of the reasons it's looking all the more healthy.

It was a raised pot between Hinrichsen and one opponent that saw {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades} land on the flop. At this point Hinrichsen opted to check-call a bet of 1,425 from his opponent as a {3-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

This time both players checked before the {q-Diamonds} hit the river. Hinrichsen thought for quite some time before he decided 3,450 was the right amount to bet. That amount sent his opponent into the tank before finally the cards went into the muck and Hinrichsen took down the pot.

Goodbye, Rossiter & How Do You Do, Aristidou?

With about 1,500 in the pot, an unknown player and Peter Aristidou checked a flop of {10-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}, leading to the {7-Diamonds} turn, which both players also checked. When the {K-Hearts} appeared on the river, the unknown player checked, Aristidou bet 1,600, and his opponent quickly folded. It wasn't much of a hand, but a good excuse for us to mention that Aristidou is up to 17,500.

On the other hand, Jeff Rossiter has been eliminated from the tournament. For those who may recall, Rossiter came in third last year in the Main Event for AUD$700,000.
