Day 1b of the Opening Event Set to Kick Off

Aussie Millions Opening Event Day 1b
Aussie Millions Opening Event Day 1b

Welcome back to the Crown Poker Room in Melbourne, Australia for continued action of the 2012 Aussie Millions!

The late night shenanigans of Day 1a on Event 1: $1,100 Opening Event have entered the record books and after only 8 hours of rest, it's back to play, as Day 1b begins in just a short while.

There were 274 players who made the trek onto the felt last night and today is expected to host a similar amount of players. Only 34 survived Day 1a and due to the unique "repecharge" format, those players will have the opportunity to come back today and do it all again.

There were a couple of stacks that reached over 200,000 in chips last night, with Australia's Tam Truong and Alex Lynskey setting the bench mark for the Day 1b players.

It's all kicking off at 12.30 pm AEST today, so make sure to follow all the action, live, from the opening event of the 2012 Aussie Millions!

Quick Start For The Dolphin Trainer

Daniel Neilson has picked up some chips early into the day, with our PokerNews reporter managing to catch the action from the turn.

Board: {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The play started with a check to Neilson, whereby who flicked out a 1,000-chip bet. One opponent made the call, while the initial checking player got out of the way. The river was a {k-Clubs} and Neilson again led, this time for 1,500. A quick call from his opponent would see Neilson turn over {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, enough to send his opponent's cards into the muck.

Kozlov Can Catch Chips

We came to Martin Kozlov's table with a board showing {6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and one opponent with a 4,600-chip bet out in front of him. Kozlov was on the button and after a few moments thought, decided to jam his stack all in. Kozlov had a small chunk under 10,000 and his opponent looked pained as he decided what to do.

Eventually Kozlov's opponent made the call and almost mucked his hand when Kozlov turned over {q-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for turned two pair. The {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} of Kozlov's opponent hit the felt and when no help came for the player, he was left with only a few hundred while Kozlov is now sitting pretty on over 20,000.
