One for the Fan Boys

Tom Dwan has been sat at the feature table all day. There’s no cameras but there a is a rail so fans can watch the action. Dwan just gave the gathered a reason for them to applaud him.

He raised from the cut-off and called when Ryan Hong three-bet him from the next seat. Hong went on to empty the clip on Dwan as the American superstar checked to him on every street. The board got wetter as it ran out {9-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades} but Dawn wasn’t to be budged and called all the way.

When he called the river bet, Hong gave a rye smile and opened {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for air. Dwan tabled {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and the crowd went wild.

Dwan Can Also Lose

We missed the pre flop action but Tom Dwan had called the all-in of the player in the small blind who had only 9,175 left behind. We witnessed the following showdown.

Tom Dwan{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Opponent{A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{A-Spades} and this gave his opponent a double up. Dwan is still looking healthy but with the number of pots he's playing there's no telling what his stack will do in the last two levels.

Today's Number

Level 6 : 300/600, 75 ante

Yesterday we had 153 players enter Day 1a and you can add 187 to that number for Day 1b, brining the total so far to 340 players. Tomorrow is going to be the big day for this event and we expect many big names to show up, making it the biggest and best day yet.

He Gave Fair Warning

JP Kelly has received a much needed double-up to what is still a short stack. He open pushed for 4,750 from the hijack and the action folded all the way around to the button.

He asked how much it was and when he was doing so Kelly said, "I got you. Ace-six, or something?"

The big blind didn't listen and called with {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Kelly did indeed have him ({a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}) and held through the {7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Spades}{a-Diamonds} board.

Still much grinding to be done though.

Scott vs.Obrestad

On a flop of {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{J-Spades}, former Aussie Millions champ Stewart Scott checked to Annette Obrestad, who bet 1,400. Scott made the call and both players proceeded to check the {4-Spades} turn and {K-Spades} river. "Ace high," Obrestad said.

Stewart then rolled over {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for the winner. "I was going to let you bluff me on the river," he joked as he raked in the pot.
