Aussie Millions Main Event
Day 1b Started
The 2012 Crown's Aussie Millions Poker Championship is in full swing as Day 1b of the Main Event is set to get underway. Yesterday, 153 players took their shot at Aussie Million glory by registering for Day 1a. When all was said and done, only 68 players remained with Brett Watson leading the pack with 257,400 in chips.
While Watson's stack was the exception to the rule, there were plenty of others who distanced themselves including Andrew Hinrichsen (132,900), Rob Angood (133,200), Ben Jenkins (154,500), Paul Sing (177,100), who won his way into the tournament through a "Baccpo" freeroll here at the Crown. Also surviving with over 100K was the only former Main Event champ to enter Day 1a, Lee Nelson, who captured the title back in 2006.
We're expecting a stacked field today as many of the players eliminated in last night's $100,000 Challenge have expressed their interest in playing today. Day 1b is set to get underway in about 15 minutes, so be sure to check back then to see a whole new roster of players take their shot at the 2012 Crown's Aussie Millions Poker Championship Main Event.
There are still a ton of empty seats around the room but the start of Day 1b is underway right on time. A few notables have taken their seats and we expect a lot more as the first level progresses.

It took less than ten minutes to lose our first player. Justin Cohen got his stack in on the river of a board versus Michael Kanaan. He tabled but was behind to his opponent's for a full house. That was a quick way to blow $10,000 AUD!

We'll keep you up-to-date on all the name players as we spot them taking their seats.
Andrew Scott, who we've already mentioned, has already flopped quads. His pocket fours found two more friends on the flop but it was a bit too early to get much value out of them.

Shawn Buchanan opened from early position for 250 and cleared the field all the way around to the button, who opted for a three-bet to 750. Both blinds got out of the way, Buchanan made the call, and the flop came down , which both players checked.
When the hit the turn, Buchanan check-called a bet of 1,100, and the peeled off on the river. Buchanan checked for a third time, while the button fired out 1,700. Buchanan thought for a solid minute before releasing his hand, losing a couple thousand in the process.
