Misread from The Owl

Owls are known for their amazing sense of sight, so you would expect someone given that nickname to be able to read their hole cards properly. Not so for Harry Demetriou.

The action was three-way to the turn of a {9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{a-Clubs} board. Ming Nguyen led for 400 and only Demetriou called from the big blind. Both checked the {9-Spades} river and Demetriou said, "I think you can beat this ({8-Clubs}{3-Spades}). I misread my hand, thought I had two clubs!"

Nguyen tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a real flush draw on the turn, but king high with the pair of nines was good enough anyway.

Wade Cautious With Second Nuts

Tristan Wade
Tristan Wade

Tristan Wade is up to almost twice the starting stack after a big pot he just managed to drag in. The WSOPE Bracelet winner told us he raised to 400 with {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} from the under the gun +1 position and only the big blind called.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and the lady in the big blind lead out for 500. Wade, having top pair and a huge draw, decided to raise to 1,300 and his opponent three-bet to 2,900. At this point Wade slowed down and made the call.

On the turn the {5-Diamonds} hit and the lady kept firing. This time she threw out 5,000 and Wade opted to call once more. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Wade was faced with a large 10,000 chip bet. Wade just made the call and got shown {A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. The pot went to the American who minimized his risk.

Edit from Trickett: "Just found out there is a $5k Chinese tournament! So won't be playing the main event today :)"

JP Kelly: “50k just had AT on TT3 v 33 though, lost the minimum but really sigh called river...good sign that I'm playing well”
