Kurganov Falls Into Gruissem's Trap

Level 6 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Igor Kurganov
Igor Kurganov

Igor Kurganov raised from the hijack seat to 4,500, and Philipp Gruissem reraised to 14,000 from the big blind. Kurganov called, and the flop came down {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Gruissem checked, Kurganov bet 10,500, and Gruissem made the call.

The turn was the {3-Clubs}, and both players checked to see the {5-Spades} pair the board on the river. Gruissem checked, and Kurganov took his time before moving all in for 61,300. Gruissem snap-called.

Kurganov tabled the {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for a rivered flush, but it was the same river card that gave him the flush that also gave Gruissem a full house with the {K-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Kurganov was eliminated, and Gruissem moved to about 275,000 in chips.

With around 86,000 in his stack on the {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, Brian Rast was all in with the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} against the {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} for Jeff Rossiter. The turn was the {A-Spades}, and then the {5-Clubs} landed on the river. With that, Rast was eliminated for the second time today. Rossiter moved to 280,000 in chips.
