McDonald Takes One

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

From the cutoff seat, Mike McDonald raised to 3,000. Dan Smith was the only customer, calling from the big blind, and the flop came down {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Both players checked to see the {A-Hearts} land on the turn, and Smith checked. McDonald bet 4,000, and Smith folded.

Chop Between Ivey and Seiver

Level 2 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

On the button, Scott Seiver raised to 6,000. Phil Ivey called from the big blind, and the flop came down {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Ivey checked, Seiver bet 5,000, and Ivey called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} to put trips on the board. Ivey checked, Seiver bet 7,500, and Ivey stuck around once more. After the {7-Hearts} completed the board, both players checked.

Seiver opened the {A-Spades}{8-Spades}, and Ivey turned up the {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}. The two players chopped up the pot.

Gruissem Picks Off Choi with Ace-High Call

Level 2 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

With more than 50,000 in the pot on the {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, Stanley Choi checked to his opponent, Philipp Gruissem. Gruissem checked behind, and the turn was the {8-Diamonds}. Choi led with a bet of 28,000, and Gruissem made the call to see the river.

On the end, the dealer placed the {3-Diamonds}. Choi opted on a bet of 84,000, and this sent Gruissem deep into the tank. While tanking, he held the amount to make the call in his right hand, and his left hand was on his cards. It looked as though he was going back and forth in his head with which hand to push forward to make the decision. Eventually, he called.

Choi shook his hand and didn't want to turn over his hand. Gruissem waited, and then Choi showed just the {Q-Diamonds}. Gruissem waited more. Then Choi showed the {K-Clubs} to go along with it and it came with a smile on his face. When Gruissem saw the king-queen high, Gruissem tabled the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} to win the pot.

"Nice hand," said Choi. "Nice call."

"Maaan..." responded Gruissem. "It was tough. Tough call."

"You see my cards?" joked Choi.

"No, it was the guy behind you," joked Gruissem.
