Karamalikis Halved by Price

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Jonathan Karamilikis on Day 1
Jonathan Karamilikis on Day 1

Jonathan Karamalikis was just spotted with a much smaller stack, and he explained to us what had happend. From early position the Aussie pro raised to 2,400 and Oliver Price three-bet to 5,800.

The action folded back to Karamalikis, and he moved all in for 24,000 effectively. Price called right away, risking his tournament life, and the showdown went as follows.

Karamalikis: {K-}{K-}
Price: {A-}{K-}

The board ran out {9-}{6-}{7-}{5-}{A-}, and the river kept Price in the tournament.

World Champs Battle It Out

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

With around 6,000 in the pot and a flop of {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}, 2005 World Series of Poker champ Joe Hachem checked from the hijack and Martin Jacobson, who won the WSOP Main Event in 2014, checked behind on the button. Action repeated itself on the {9-Spades} turn and then Hachem checked for a third time when the {9-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Jacobson bet 2,500, and Hachem called only to muck when his Swedish opponent tabled the {10-Spades}{a-Clubs} for a flush.

Les Earns Some

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

From the small blind Jason Les was seen betting 2,000 on {Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}. His neighbor David Brand made the call. Brand called Les' 4,500 bet on the {K-Clubs} turn as well and the {J-Clubs} completed the board. Les bet 11,200 with just 8,000 behind. Brand didn't need much time folding his hand.

The Champ Doubles Up

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Last years champion Manny Stavropoulos just opened the cutoff and his country man John Dalessandri three-bet to 5,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded and action was back on Stavropoulos. He pushed all in for 15,400 and after contemplating what to do for a bit, Dalessandri called.

Manny Stavropoulos: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
John Dalessandri: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

It was a classic flip and Stavropoulos would be the one to come out ahead. The board came {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts} and last years winner doubled up with top two.

Hachem Doubles in Clash of WSOP Champions

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Joe Hachem, Australia's most famous poker player and World Series of Poker Main Event champion, just doubled through Sweden's Martin Jacobson, the 2014 Main Event winner.

Hachem ended up all in with pocket aces, and he got called by Jacobson's jacks. The board brought blanks, and Hachem kept his tournament alive.

Hachem last cashed the Aussie Millions Main Event back in 2007, but right now he's still in the hunt for another deep run.

The $25,000 Challenge Champ Takes a Big Hit

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Chance Kornuth, who won the $25,000 Challenge a few days back, has had a rough go of it here on Day 2.

In a recent hand, Kevin O'Donnell opened for 1,800 from early position only to have Melania Ramos three-bet to 3,800. The player on the button flatted, and then Kornuth four-bet to 11,800 from the big blind. O'Donnell and Ramos both folded, and then the button thought long and hard before making the call.

Both players then checked the {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop as well as the {K-Spades} turn, and then Kornuth led out for 10,000 on the {7-Hearts} river. His opponent thought long and hard before raising to 22,000, and Kornuth hit the tank.

"Feels like you got me," said Kornuth before adding, "maybe not."

Kornuth then tossed in the chips, which was about half his remaining stack, and was shocked to see his opponent roll over the {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the rivered nuts.
