Tony Dunst Leads the Charge Into Day 4 of the 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event

Just 40 players remain in the 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event, and it is Tony Dunst and his stack of 1.627 million leading the way into Day 4.

Much like he did on Day 2, Dunst had a superb finish to Day 3, which allowed him to bag up some a big stack and big lead. He busted Philipp Gruissem and Pascal Hartmann in the same hand, and then closed out the night by sending Sam Steindl packing with just a few hands left to play.

James Obst was another player to finish very strong on Day 3. He did so by nailing the river with pocket eights against Victor Teng's pocket jacks to finish on 1.196 million, which was good enough for second place on the leaderboard, albeit a bit behind Dunst.

In third is one of three women still in the field, Samantha Abernathy, with 1.195 million. Kitty Kuo with 783,000 and Jessica Dawley with 302,000 are the other two female players still in the field.

With the field well into the money, each player left is guaranteed AU$25,000. The cards will be in the air at 12:30 p.m. local time, and the field will be looking to make its way down to the final table of seven. However long that takes, PokerNews will be there for coverage, so be sure to keep it locked right here.

Soucek Busts With Fours to Queens

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

In one of the first hands of the day we saw Alexander Lynskey open the cutoff to 25,000. Lukas Soucek from the Czech Republic on the button three-bet all in for just under 160,000. The small blind folded but big blind John Apostolidis pushed for 559,000. Lynskey folded.

John Apostolidis: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Lukas Soucek: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Soucek made his exit in 40th place.

An Ace from Space Saves Sandaev

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Ari Engel opened for 28,000 from the hijack only to have Xingrong Ren three-bet to 64,000 from the cutoff. When action reached Joseph Sandaev in the small blind, he moved all in for 254,000 and Engel responded by moving all in over the top. Ren folded.

Engel: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Sandaev: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Sandaev was way behind and in need of some help. His best chance at survival was to catch an ace, and much to Engel's dismay, that's just what he did when the flop came down {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. Neither the {9-Hearts} turn nor {8-Clubs} river helped Engel reclaim the lead, and Sandaev shipped a double and then some.

Ko Wins One Without a Showdown

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Dylan Honeyman opened to 26,000 from middle position and action folded to Yuki Ko in the small blind. He three-bet to 79,000 and Honeyman made the call after the big blind folded.

The flop came {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Ko opted to check. Honeyman bet 75,000 and Ko called. Both players checked the {4-Diamonds} on the turn and the {5-Spades} completed the board. Ko bet a mere 72,000 but it was enough as Honeyman folded.

Lee Takes from Shaikh

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

From the button, Alex Lee raised to 24,000. Adeel Shaikh called from the big blind, and the flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}. Both players checked, and the turn was the {7-Hearts}. Shaikh checked, Lee bet 28,000, and Shaikh called.

The river card was the {6-Hearts}, and Shaikh checked again. Lee bet 47,000, and Shaikh made the call after a moment or two of thought.

Lee rolled over the {10-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a straight, and Shaikh mucked his hand.
