Winston 1, Demetriou 0

Roy Winston has just jumped one match ahead of Harry Demetriou and is one win away from securing a spot in Saturday's quarter-finals. If Winston were to win the next match, he'd finish an impressive 6-0 on the day.

Where are Mike and Mike?

Approximately an hour and a half ago, Round 3 opponents (and friends) Mike "Timex" McDonald and Mike Watson asked the tournament staff if they could take a "quick" dinner break before playing out their match. Their request was granted and since then, the remainder of Flight 1's matches have finished up.

Mike and Mike are still MIA and we've been informed by one of the TD's that if they're not back within 10 minutes, he's going to call it a day and make them return tomorrow afternoon to finish their match.

Still No Mikes

The tournament staff has given Mike Watson and Mike "Timex" McDonald an additional 10 minutes to show up for their Round 3 match before they call it a day. In the event that they are no shows, they will be forced to play the match out early tomorrow afternoon.

According to Jimmy 'gobboboy' Fricke, Watson and McDonald are roommates and very good friends.

Better Late Than Never

Rommates Mike "Timex" McDonald and Mike Watson have finally returned to the Crown to play out their Round 3 heads-up match. The match has been underway for about ten minutes now, and Timex has jumped to an early lead in the first game, up to 15,000 in chips against Watson's 5,000.

The winner of the match will face off against Team PokerStars' Masaaki Kagawa on Saturday afternoon.

By the way... you're probably wondering what took them so long to get here. According to McDonald, the place they went to grab dinner from was "closed for renovations," so they had to drive to Chinatown to find what they wanted.

Watson Doubles Up

Down to his last 3,100 in chips, Mike Watson has just managed to double up in his heads-up match against Mike "Timex" McDonald - his {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs} holding up against Timex's {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, in what was a pre-flop all in confrontation..

The board filled out {7-Spades}{J-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and Watson took down the 6,200 pot with ace-high.

"Timex" Goes Up One-Nil

"Timex"

Mike "Timex" McDonald opened with a raise from the button and Mike Watson moved all in over the top of McDonald's bet holding A-7. McDonald made the call and tabled K-8.

The flop came king-high and that was all the help Timex would need to take down the pot and a 1-0 lead in the match.

Game 2 - McDonald Leads

The first twenty minutes of McDonald v.s. Watson II were relatively uneventful. It wasn't until the blinds went up to 150/300 that the game saw any significant action.

In a recent hand, Mike Watson made it 800 to go from the button and "Timex" made the call. The flop came {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Spades} and both players checked.

When the {2-Diamonds} fell on the turn, McDonald led out with a 1,200 bet and Watson made a quick call. The last card off the deck was the {7-Diamonds} and McDonald fired a 2,500 bullet that sent Watson into the tank. After some thought, Watson laid it down and McDonald said, "I'll show you one," proceeding to turn over the {8-Hearts}.

McDonald is now up to 13,925, leaving Watson with 6,075.

Watson's Comeback Falls Short; "Timex" Advances

Mike "Timex" McDonald
Mike "Timex" McDonald
Roommates Michael "Timex" McDonald and Michael Watson just finished up the last (and longest) match of the day, and it was "Timex" who emerged victorious, locking up the final spot in the quarter-finals of the Flight 1 bracket.

Watson put up a good fight - at one point down to a single 500 chip and coming back to as much as 4,200 - but McDonald remained selectively aggressive, while making all the right folds.

Once Watson built his stack up to 2,000 from 500, Timex remarked, "This is gonna be a sick comeback." "We probably wouldn't be able to be roommates anymore if I came back from this," Watson replied.

McDonald was able to dodge a couple of bullets during Watson's attempted comeback. Watson had built back up to 3,300 in chips and picked up a pocket pair of kings. He shoved from the button but McDonald laid it down. Just two hands later, Watson shoved from the button again, but McDonald had a mere {2-Clubs}{6-Spades} and folded; this time Watson tabled Big Slick and the roommates had a good laugh over the situation.

The last hand saw Watson shove his last 3,300 into the middle from the button and McDonald insta-called.

McDonald: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Watson: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The board filled out {J-Clubs}{6-Spades}{K-Spades}{3-Clubs}{A-Clubs} and McDonald took down the pot and the match with a set of sixes.
