It’s time to saddle up for one final charge as The Trojan returns for what promises to be a thrilling Day 2 at the 2025 Australian Poker Open.
This A$10,000 buy-in high roller is one of the most exclusive events on the schedule, where the field may be small, but the stakes are anything but. With play resuming today at Club Marconi at Doltone House Western Sydney at 2 p.m., the remaining contenders will battle for the title, the trophy, and what’s sure to be another hefty top prize.
Last year’s event drew 68 entries and ran into overtime before Mexico’s Bernardo Del Toro claimed the crown. Having only just touched down in Australia, Del Toro rode a wave of momentum and cool-headed play to pocket A$220,000 and etch his name into Australian Poker Open history. His victory over Daniel Veljkovic in a gritty heads-up duel marked the start of a memorable month-long visit for the Mexican player, who praised both the structure and the atmosphere of the series.
| Place | Player | Country | Prize (A$) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bernardo Del Toro | Mexico | $220,000 |
| 2 | Daniel Veljkovic | Australia | $144,000 |
| 3 | Mostafa Haidary | Australia | $89,200 |
| 4 | Ehsan Amiri | Australia | $62,000 |
| 5 | Marcial Dias | Australia | $46,000 |
| 6 | Andy Lee | Australia | $33,000 |
| 7 | Sean Ragozzini | Australia | $25,000 |
| 8 | Benjamin Bottles | Australia | $20,000 |
After 12 levels of play on Day 1, registration remains open through the first two levels today — closing at the end of Level 14 — and all eyes now turn to the action to see who will rise from the elite field and follow in Del Toro’s footsteps.
Stay locked on PokerNews throughout the day as we bring you hand-for-hand updates, chip counts, photos, and the crowning of the next Trojan champion.

Daewoong Song: A♣Q♠
Malcolm Trayner: A♥4♥
Song was in the lead and his hand held up after the K♠7♦5♣6♠A♦ runout, earning him a double-up and leaving Trayner very short.

Benjamin LeBlond hasn't been in his seat for too long but had already more than doubled up his stack after a string of hands.
Most recently, Adam Kharman opened from under the gun to 8,000 and LeBlond called from the cutoff. Shan Huang also called in the big blind.
The flop came down 8♦J♥7♥ where the action checked to LeBlond, who fired out 16,000. Huang folded and Kharman called.
Both checked the 3♣ turn to the 2♠ river, where Kharman checked and LeBlond fired 85,000. Kharman thought for around a minute and eventually settled on a fold, earning LeBlond the pot.

Joseph Sandaev raised to 8,000 from under the gun and Anthony Khalil three-bet the hijack to 25,000. Haozhe Gan was in the cutoff and shoved 97,000, and only Khalil called.
Haozhe Gan: A♥Q♠
Anthony Khalil: K♥K♣
Gan was behind and needed to find an ace to stay alive. There wasn't much for him to work with on the 6♦2♠J♦ flop and the J♣ turn left him with just three outs. No ace appeared on the 2♦ river, and Gan headed off to the rebuy desk.
