Welcome to Day 1e of Australian Poker Open Main Event
The fifth of six starting flights for the Australian Poker Open Main Event will take place today here at the fabulous Club Marconi at Doltone House Western Sydney, with the action scheduled to get underway at noon local time.
Two days ago in Day 1d, tournament veteran John Perry put on a poker clinic to end with 982,000, which is currently over 200,000 more than his next-closest competitor, Jackson Young, who bagged up 763,000 through nearly 15 levels of play. However, with just two more flights left to claim a seat into Day 2, the action is sure to heat up with more players vying for a top spot in the chip counts.
So far, the event has drawn a total of 158 entries across the first four starting flights. Of those, 21 have currently secured a Day-2 berth. Here's a look at the overall chip leaders:

Players will begin with 50,000 in chips with blinds starting at 100/200 with a 200 big-blind ante on Level 1. Levels will last 40 minutes each and late registration will close at the start of Level 10. Players who bust are allowed an unlimited amount of reentries before late registration ends. Breaks will be held at the end of every three levels.
Play will suspend for the day once the field has been reduced to 12.5% of total players remaining. Everyone who bags into Day 2 will be paid out an immediate A$5,000 min-cash. The remaining players from all starting flights will reconvene on Friday, April 25 at noon for Day 2.
