Day 1e Started
The fifth of six starting flights for the Australian Poker Open Main Event will take place today here at the fabulous Club Marconi at Doltone House Western Sydney, with the action scheduled to get underway at noon local time.
Two days ago in Day 1d, tournament veteran John Perry put on a poker clinic to end with 982,000, which is currently over 200,000 more than his next-closest competitor, Jackson Young, who bagged up 763,000 through nearly 15 levels of play. However, with just two more flights left to claim a seat into Day 2, the action is sure to heat up with more players vying for a top spot in the chip counts.
So far, the event has drawn a total of 158 entries across the first four starting flights. Of those, 21 have currently secured a Day-2 berth. Here's a look at the overall chip leaders:

Irene Bennett was seen standing up from her seat exclaiming, "Wow, first hand! At least I got in on a satellite!" after having been eliminated by Chen Zhihao.
Zhihao held A♦9♦ on a completed board of 4♦J♥Q♦6♣3♦ for the nut flush, while Bennett held a king-high flush for the second nuts to be eliminated in brutal fashion.

Mike Feizpour opened to 500 from under the gun and was called by Shayne Leroy on the button, Kareem Kilany in the small blind, and Romain Morvan in the big blind for a four-way pot.
Action checked to Feizpour, who continued for 800 on the 3♥9♣4♦ flop. Leroy called, but Kilany check-raised to 3,500, which got a fold from Morvan, a call from Feizpour, and a fold from Leroy.
Both players checked on the J♠ turn and then Kilany led out for 6,000 on the 8♦ river. Feizpour responded with a raise to 15,000 and Kilany quickly called.
Feizpour shrugged and turned over 7♦6♦ for a bluff, prompting Kilany to turn over A♥J♥ for a pair of jacks to claim the pot.

Heads-up on a flop of A♣3♠Q♥ with several thousand already in the middle, Majid Shahikarijani bet 2,500 from under the gun and Robert Damelian called on the button.
Damelian called a 3,500 bet from Shahikarijani on the 8♣ turn and then fired 6,600 into the middle after Shahikarijani checked on the 3♥ river.
Shahikarijani quickly called and Damelian tabled A♠K♥ for aces-up with the best kicker. Shahikarijani couldn't beat it and mucked — awarding the pot to Damelian.
