Picking action up on the flop in a raised pot, the board read J♦10♦7♠. Phil Hoff bet 35,000 from the small blind and got called by Matt McGuire on the button.
The turn brought the Q♣ and Hoff moved all in for about 130,000.
"Oh don't do that, I've got the straight," said McGuire as he happily called and showed his A♠K♥.
Hoff could only show 10♣7♦ for two pair, and after the 2♣ fell on the river, the defending champion's day was done, with the final 29 players all in the money and onto Day 2.
