The 2023 Bar Poker Open returns for its 13th Championship event and is the 8th year being held downtown in Golden Nugget's Grand Ballroom in Las Vegas.

Over the course of the last year more than 1.5 million players have been competing, both live and online, to receive an invite to this exclusive event. In 2022, the championship event attracted 1,240 runners and generated a prize pool of $422,400. Tommy Nefcy of Sunshine Poker League was the last man standing, taking home $37,115 and the championship trophy.

This year is set to be even bigger, with the tournament having a first place prize guaranteed at $100,000, for the affordable $365 buy-in.

All entries will start with 25,000 in tournament chips and levels will be 30-minutes each on Day 1 and will increase to 45-minutes on Day 2 and the final day. There will be a 15-minute break after every four levels and each Day 1 will play down to 5% of the field.

The first of two Day 1a flights will shuffle up and deal at 10 a.m, with the second starting later in the day at 4 p.m Vegas time, followed by a second chance flight at 11 a.m, on Tuesday June 13th, in which unsuccessful hopefuls can take a second chance at making Day 2, and for those that have already bagged a Day 2 stack, the opportunity to try their luck again and aim to bag even more tournament chips.

Any player that successfully bags chips twice will take their largest stack forward and will receive $1,500 for their efforts.

Here is a snapshot of the 2023 Bar Poker Open Championship Event:

  • 10% of each flight will reach the money with a minimum cash of $500
  • Day 1 will end when the field reaches 5% rounded up. Day 2 will play until the final table is reached.

Action folded to Nicholas Burnett, who opened to 800 from early position, picking up calls from Charles Glover and the small blind, Victoria Torres.

On a flop of 665, Torres led out for 1,600 and both Burnett and Glover called.

The dealer fanned the 2 on the turn and Torres elected to check, Burnett checked his action and Glover carved out a bet of 2,500, which was called by both players.

The three players saw the K river and Torres bet out 1,500 into the pot of 14,800, Burnett called the 1,500 bet only for Glover to raise the river to 6,400 total. Torres quickly folded and Burnett threw in the single chip to signify the call.

Glover showed AJ for the flush and took down a sizeable pot.
