Megan Milburn

Megan Milburn's quest for back-to-back final tables at a Borgata seasonal Poker Open Ladies event has come to an end, and according to the perpetually smiling young player, she had {A-}{A-} cracked by {5-}{5-}.

Milburn shrugged the loss off with aplomb, heading over to the main poker room to check out the action after being eliminated.

Playing Napkins... Literally

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Sandi Phelps' tournament just came to an end, and she accepted her defeat graciously after running {J-}{j-} into {k-}{k-} to become crippled.

The backstory to the hand, however, showed that she was drawing even thinner than the standard underpair-versus-overpair confrontation.

Apparently, one of the four jacks in the deck had been inadvertently slid under a napkin near a player's water bottle, remaining hidden away for over an hour. Eventually, during a bit of routine table cleaning by one of the players, the lost jack was discovered... but only after Phelps ran her fishhooks into the cowboys.

This situation obviously affected more than just Phelps, as any player searching for straights, or even flushes using the missing card's suit, were playing with a depleted arsenal of outs.

Despite the miscue, Phelps took the beat in stride, mentioning that accidents happen and poker is poker.

Update (Wed. 3:40 p.m. EST): According to Borgata staff, Director of Poker Operations Vince Alonge reviewed the tape of this incident, and according to him the {j-} in question was only missing for "16 seconds." Likewise, no hands were played without the {j-}.

Alex Goldberg savoring the cheers during his walk of shame
Alex Goldberg savoring the cheers during his walk of shame

The Signature Room burst into a raucous round of applause, as Alex Goldberg had just been eliminated from the field.

As the lone wolf in the Ladies event, Goldberg had a target on his back all day, and sure enough he was sent to the rail short of the money.

Goldberg took the cheers in stride though, showing great sportsmanship (at least once he was felted) as he made his way to the exits.

Fittingly, it was a pair of ladies that did Goldberg in, as Kim Edmonds dispatched him with {Q-}{q-} after he risked the last of his stack on the {j-}{10-}{8-} flop holding {A-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.
