"My Image is Shot"

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Scott McClean limped in from early position, Mauricio Dasilva called on the button, and Charlie Hook raised to 64,000 out of the small blind. Eric Starker moved all in for 1,000 more out of the big blind, and the action folded back to Hook, who was forced to call with {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

"Oh, don't beat me with that crap!" Starker said, revealing {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

Starker remained ahead of the crap on a flop of {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, but the turn was the {6-Clubs} giving Hook a leading pair of sixes. Starker started to get out of his seat as the {6-Hearts} completed the board, adding injury to insult, and he hit the rail.

"That wasn't supposed to happen," Hook said. "You were supposed to fold and I was supposed to win the pot."

Shankar Pillai bursted out into laughter at the audacious statement, and Hook grinned as well.

"I think my image is shot," Hook added. "I guess I can start grinding payjumps."

Novak and McClean Bust, Israelashvili and Brady Double

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

According to Roland Israelashvili, Laurence Wolf raised to 20,000 from under the gun, a second player called, and a short-stacked Valeria Novak moved all in from the big blind. Wolf called with {a-}{j-}, and Novak was in a dominant position to double with {j-}{j-}.

"You know Barry Greenstein's book?" Israelashvili told us, smiling.

Evidently Novak was done in by an ace on the river, exiting the tournament.

Israelashvili was then awarded a double moments later with {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} against Abraham Korotki's {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}.

"I can't lost with a three," Israelashvili said confidently.

True enough, Israelashvili made a full house as the board came {3-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades}, and doubled up.

Across the room, Scott McLean moved all in for more than a pot-sized bet in a raised pot with {a-}{a-} on a flop of {a-}{k-}{q-}. It was an easily call for Charlie Hook, who had {j-}{10-}, and the board did not pair up.

And while all of this was going down, Matt Brady found a double up as well. Brady looked like he four-bet all in for 179,000 more than whatever Chris Csik three-bet to, and Csik called.

Brady: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Csik: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The kings held as the flop, turn, and river came {7-Spades}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, and Brady doubled.

Israelashvili Out

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Roland Israelashvili was all in and at risk with {10-}{10-} on a board of {x-Spades}{x-Spades}{x-} against Frank Toscano's {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. The turn was the {a-Hearts}, giving Toscano a stranglehold on the hand, and the river was a meaningless card.

Israelashvili was eliminated, while Toscano chipped up to 585,000 chips.

King of the Tuthill

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Abraham Korotki raised to 24,000 in early position, David Tuthill put in a re-raise to 51,000 from the cutoff, and Dave Stefanski tanked for a bit before folding his big blind. Korotki called.

The flop fell {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{q-Hearts}, both players checked, and the turn was the {j-Spades}. Korotki check-called a half-pot bet, and the river was the {7-Hearts}. Korotki check-called another bet of 117,000, then mucked when Tuthill showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for queens and fives.

Csik and Busse Bust From Table 3

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Chris Csik open-shoved for around 150,000 from under the gun, and Andy Spears re-shoved in late position. The players in the blinds released.

Csik: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Spears: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Csik failed to improve enough as the board came {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, and exited in 27th place.

An orbit later, Jewook Oh put in a standard raise from middle position. Shawn Busse three-bet on his direct left, and the action folded back to Oh, who four-bet shipped for effectively 300,000 or so. Busse snap-called.

Busse: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Oh: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

It was a major misstep for Oh, but Lady Luck came to the rescue. The {7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop gave him a gut-shot straight draw, and the {10-Diamonds} on the turn gave him said straight. Busse could chop the pot with a {j-} on the river, but the {10-Hearts} sent him packing.

Pillai Short

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Just before the level change, Shankar Pillai, William Bariban, and Robson Barbosa were three handed on a board of {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Pillai fired out 50,000, only Bariban called, and the river was the {a-Clubs}.

Pillai checked, and Bariban checked behind, revealing {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a flush. It was good.

Nye Runs into Aces

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Michael Nye was just eliminated over on Table 3 with unknown action. When we arrived, Nye's hand was being scooped into the muck, {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} was in front of Miguel Borrero, and the board was completed {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{q-}.

It looked as if Nye had a wired pair as well, and the money went in preflop.

Jaffe's Hands Caught in the Cookie Jar

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

With 90,000 in the pot and the board showing {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{J-Spades}, Robson Barbosa bet 43,000 and was called by Will Jaffe.

The river was the {7-Clubs} and Barbosa slowed down and checked. Jaffe bet 83,000 and after a couple of minutes Barbosa decided to look him up.

"Good call," said Jaffe as he mucked.

Barbosa turned over {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and is up to 385,000 after the hand while Jaffe is now riding a short stack with 125,000.
