Event 1: Frosty the Snowmen

We watched a player stand and make his exit from the tournament area, and a quick scan of the table told the tale.

Matt Brunskole's {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} was displayed in front of him, while an opponent's {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} was tabled nearby. The final board contained a {k-}, but fortunately for Bunskole, an {8-} had also fallen to the felt.

His set of eights downed the lone pair of kings, and Brunskole doubled his starting stack early on this Day 1B.

Event 1: Guagenti Straight Flushed Out

We found Nick Guagenti all in against Alynna Le after a flop of {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

Guagenti: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Le: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Guagenti had top set, but he needed to dodge Le's straight draw. Le turned the tables with a {4-Clubs} on the turn, and it was now Guagenti who needed improvement. The opposite happened, as a {3-Clubs} fell, giving Le a straight flush.

"She can't lose a hand," said the player in Seat Six.

Event 1: Level Up

The tournament has now entered the fourth level of play, and blinds are now 100-200.

Players will take a short break at the conclusion of this level, and Level 5 will bring on forced antes.

Event 1: Bob the Boatman

Bob Ricciuti found himself on the fortunate end of a cooler situation, when his {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs} connected with the {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} board for a full boat.

His unlucky opponent had a full house as well with {4-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}, but unfortunately for her she was on the short end of the stick. After a bit of accounting, the crippled opponent retook her seat, while Ricciuti began organizing the spoils of victory.

Event 1: Pitocco "The Psychic"

After a flop of {6-Spades}{q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, Philip Pitocco bet 2,000 from the button after his opponent in the hijack checked. The player called, and the board double-paired with the {q-Diamonds} on the turn. The hijack checked once more, and Pitocco threw 4,000 into the pot before his opponent could even finish rapping the table. The hijack made the call, and the players saw a {10-Diamonds} river. After a final check, Pitocco doubled his wager once again, tossing out 8,000. Pitocco's opponent seemed perturbed by the bet, leaning back in his seat and tanking for a minute or so. Finally, he slid his cards to the dealer. Pitocco revealed a {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for king high.

"This guy's a psychic," a player at the table said a few hands earlier. "He said he was gonna be all in on the flop, and he was, and he flopped broadway."

If Pitocco is indeed a psychic, this tournament should be over relatively quickly since he'll have no problem getting all of the chips.

Event 1: Lost and Found

Passing through the crowded tournament area, we noticed a security guard standing at the ready, a pumpkin colored $1,000 chip in her hand.

Apparently, a bankrolled player at a nearby table had dropped the chip while playing, and the alert guard spotted it before another player could abscond with the dough.

Despite emptying his pockets to show that he held seven or eight more of the ducats, the player was unable to retrieve his money from the guard, as casino protocol required a check of the cameras to determine the chip's rightful owner.

For his part, the player was nonplussed with the decision, and he immediately returned his focus to the game at hand.

Event 1: Hwang Strong-Arms Four

Andy Hwang, in the big blind, watched two players call a middle-position raise of 500, and he decided to see who wanted to play for the loftier sum of 2,250. Everyone was fine with that, so four players saw the {6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop. After the small blind checked, Hwang fired a continuation-bet of 4,100. Everyone folded in quick succession, and Hwang dragged the sizable pot.

Event 1: Ante Up

Level 5 play has begun, and players must now ante each hand with a green T25 chip, in addition to paying 150 and 300 for the blinds on their respective turns.

Event 1: Guagenti Reloads

Nick Guagenti must have purchased another proverbial clip, as he's been spotted back in the thick of things attempting to grind his up. In a recent hand, he checked to an opponent on the button with the board reading {5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}, and his opponent checked back. Guagenti bet out 2,200 on the {8-Diamonds} river, and his opponent took about 30 seconds before electing to call. Guagenti showed {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for top pair, and his opponent mucked.
