Day 2 Started

Today's Schedule

With the suspension of play in the $2 million guaranteed tournament, that leaves two events on the schedule today here at Borgata: $560 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold'em Re-entry and $500 Pot-Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better. We'll be bringing you pertinent updates from those two tournaments shortly.

For now, a tournament official has informed us that about 430 players have registered for NLHE and about 120 entrants are playing PLO8.

Event 4: Some Notables and an Update

We've reached 132 total entrants in the $500 Pot-Limit Omaha Eight-or-Better tournament here at the Borgata Winter Poker Open. Players are currently on a short scheduled break, and when they return, blinds will be 100-200. Players began play with 15,000, and this tournament is a freezeout, no re-entry.

A couple of notable names we've spotted in the small field: Chris Reslock (13,725) and Jerry Callahan (10,275).

Event 4: Caruso Quarters One

We found Anthony Caruso in the aftermath of an all in on a board of {a-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

Caruso: {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Caruso had flopped the nut low with a straight draw, while his opponent had top set and a weaker low. Caruso grabbed command of the whole pot when the deuce turned, giving him the nuts both ways, but a four on the river allowed his opponent to chop the low with a wheel.

Caruso now has 19,875.

Event 4: Zhao Gets KO in Three-Bet Pot

A player in middle position called, Allan Zhao three-bet to 1,000, and the small blind made it 3,600 to go. The original raiser folded, and Zhao called after tanking for a bit.

The flop came {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{10-Clubs}, and the small blind moved all in. Zhao immediately made the call.

Zhao: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Small blind: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}

The turn brought a {q-Hearts}, and Zhao pulled way ahead. The one-outer didn't come, as the {7-Clubs} hit the board, and Zhao is up to 18,000.

Also, Mickey Appleman's been spotted in the field sitting with 13,200.

Event 3: Life After Death

Coleem Chestnut's Stack is B.I.G. Here on Day 1 of Event 3
Coleem Chestnut's Stack is B.I.G. Here on Day 1 of Event 3

We became acquainted with Coleem Chestnut throughout Event 1, as the Brooklyn native made a deep run while dominating the chip standings for much of the day. After getting to know him a little better through PokerNews' recent "Local Spotlight" series here at the Borgata, we learned that the regular cash game player has an affinity for tournaments here in Atlantic City.

Despite being victimized by a truly bizarre call late in the night, one which cut the chip leader's stack in half despite his opponent holding just ace-high, Chestnut is back and in effect here today.

Chestnut currently owns one of the biggest stacks in the room at the moment, and after yesterday's performance, we're confident he'll be sticking around for another deep run.
