Event 4: Waddell Doubles, Callahan Eliminated

Ryan Waddell got it all in with a short stack on a {6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop.

Waddell: {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Waddell's opponent had a superior low draw, but Waddell was actually ahead with ace-nine high for the high end. The turn and river came {q-Spades} and {4-Diamonds}, and one player at the table called for a chop, not realizing there was no low. Waddell had simply doubled up by scooping the pot with ace-nine high.

At the adjacent table, Jerry Callahan, whom we highlighted in our "Local Spotlight" series, busted out when an opponent made quad tens.

Event 3: Robbing Peter to Pay Paul

An experienced tournament player from Pennsylvania by the name of Paul Shedaker just doubled up after flopping a set.

Although he was taking {2-}{2-} up against {A-}{a-} before the flop, the first three cards brought another deuce from the deck.

No third ace could be found on the turn and river, and with that, Shedaker notched the double up.

With the board reading {4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, the small blind bet 3,100. Danny Chang raised to 6,500, and the last player to act moved all in for over 20,000. The original bettor folded, and Chang called off for 18,200 total.

Chang: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}
Opponent: {j-}{j-}{8-}{3-}

Chang needed to dodge only the case jack, and the river was the {10-Spades}. He's working with about a 40,000 stack.

Event 4: Firsching Near 100k

A player in the small blind check-raised to 11,600 after Vincent Firsching made a bet on a {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop. Firsching made the call, and he called the player's subsequent all in on the {8-Diamonds} turn.

Firsching: {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Firsching had the low, and he needed to make his straight to scoop the whole pot. That's exactly what happened when the {9-Spades} came on the river, and Firsching is just below the 100,000 mark.

Event 4: Villella Takes Out Zhao

Joe Villella, Allan Zhao, and one other player got in a three-way all in before the flop.

Zhao: {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Villella: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Third player: {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

"All in with bullets," Villella called to a friend.

The board ran out {10-}{8-}{5-}{j-}{5-}, leaving Villella's aces still best. Zhao was sent to the rail, while the other player had a few chips with which to work. Villella has around 50,000 now.

Blinds are currently 600-1,200 as we approach the dinner break. Out of 139 runners, around 60 remain.

Event 3: Dentale Dented

Minutes after informing us that he was in possession of 110,000 chips, Mike Dentale shipped a few of those across the table.

The final board read {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} and Dentale faced a bet of 15,000 from an unidentified opponent.

After a lengthy tank spanning multiple minutes, Dentale looked his man up, only to muck when he saw the {K-Spades}{J-Hearts} turned over across the table.

Despite the loss, Dentale still has a comfortable stack at this juncture in the tournament.
