Hands 109-113: Some Play Checkers, Others Play Chess

Level 35 : 125,000/250,000, 25,000 ante

Hand 109: Paredes opened for 575,000 and Merulla laid down.

Hand 110: Merulla opened to 600,000 and Paredes came along with the call. On the {3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop Paredes checked to Merulla, who c-bet for 400,000. Paredes counted out a raise and made it 1.2 million. Merulla flatted the sizable raise and the {8-Spades} fell in on the turn. Paredes then fired away with a 1.9 million wager and Merulla smiled a bit while sliding his cards away.

Hand 111: Paredes continued to pound Merulla with his big stack, raising to 575,000 and taking down an uncontested pot.

Hand 112: Merulla opened for 600,000 and Paredes flatted to take the {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop. The action went check-check and the turn card was the {10-Hearts}. Paredes checked a second time, as did Merulla, and the river came {3-Clubs}. Two checks later and the pout was pushed to Merulla, after he tabled {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for ace-high.

Hand 113: Paredes opened to 575,000 and Merulla called to see the flop fall {5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{8-Clubs}. The action checked around and the turn came {5-Clubs}. A check from Merulla prompted Paredes to bet 600,000, and Merulla then flatted to see the river card come {k-Clubs}. Merulla checked for the sixth time in two hands, and Paredes checked back, with Merulla showing {a-Spades}{5-Spades} for a slowplayed trips on the turn.
