Cohen Takes It on the Turn

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Five players each committed 700 preflop and saw a flop of {8-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts}. A player in middle position bet 900 and all but one of his opponents, including Jesse Cohen, made the call.

After the dealer burned and turned the {7-Diamonds}, three checks put action on Cohen and he fired out 2,700.

That did the trick as one by one his three opponents folded their hands.

Abilia Announces a Full House

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Barry Leventhal opened for 800 under the gun and the player on the button called. Ariel Abilia came along from the small blind and the trio took a flop of {5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Two checks saw the button bet 1,300, Abilia called, and Leventhal got out of the way to make it heads-up action to the {8-Spades} turn.

The third spade prompted Abilia to lead out for 2,500 but he couldn't shake his opponent on the button, who called to see the {7-Clubs} river.

Abilia bet again, this time 6,600, and his opponent thought long and hard before making the call.

"Full house," Abilia said and tabled the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered sevens full of tens. His opponent just shook his head and sent his cards to the muck.

First Break of the Night

David Jackson
David Jackson

The Day 1b Event #1 players are now on their first 15-minute break of the night. There are plenty of familiar faces in the field including former November Niner Patrick Chan, David Jackson, Joey Galazzo and Niko Platis.

Day 1b tournament registration and re-entry will remain open until the start of Level 13 or approximately 12:45 p.m. so there's still plenty of time to get in on the action.

George Alberto

George Alberto was unable to find a bag on Day 1a but he is off to a red hot start here in our second Event 1 flight. Alberto doubled his stack early and he is showing no signs of slowing down.

He is now sitting behind a mountain of 80,000 which is good for the early Day 1b chip lead.
