2019 Borgata Poker Open
2019 Borgata Poker Open

The 2019 Borgata Poker Open (BPO) will feature 23 events from September 3-20, and today Event #1: $600 Deepstack Kick-Off got underway with Day 1a, which you can follow here. Now, it's time for the second of six starting flights.

The tournament does allow for best stack forward, so even if players make it through either of today's flights they can fire any of the additional flights. Players will start with 25,000 in chips and late registration and re-entries will be available through Level 12. Levels 1-16 will last 30 minutes each, while Levels 17 and beyond will be 50 minutes each. Day 3 will see levels increase to one hour. The Day 1 flights are scheduled to play until the end of Level 16 or at the tournament director's discretion.

Don't Miss the WPT BPO Championship

The stop will culminate with the World Poker Tour (WPT) Borgata Poker Open Championship, a $3,500 buy-in tournament with a $3,000,000 guarantee from September 15-20. Last year, that tournament attracted 1,075 entries and offered up a $3,441,075 prize pool. In the end, it was Erkut Yilmaz besting Timothy Miles to capture the title and $575,112 prize.

It will mark the 17th time the WPT has held the Borgata Poker Open Championship, which dates all the way back to Season II in 2003. Past winners include the late Noli Francisco, Daniel Negreanu, Mark Newhouse, Vivek Rajkumar, Olivier Busquet, Anthony Zinno, and Darren Elias.

Familiar Faces in Flight B

Flight B is off to a slow start, but now that registration has closed for Flight A, the numbers will grow more quickly, although this flight is usually the smallest of all six starting flights.

Some players who started the day up front in Flight A have now relocated to the middle area and Flight B, including David Jackson, Niko Platis, and George Alberto.

Here are some more familiar faces we've spotted in Flight B.

One for Lewis

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

The player in the hijack opened for 700 and Patton Lewis, who fired and fell on the Day 1a flight, defended his big blind to see a {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop.

Lewis checked, the hijack continued for 1,600, and Lewis check-raised the minimum to 3,200. His opponent called and the both players checked the {q-Clubs} turn as well as the {9-Spades} river.

Lewis tabled the {j-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a pair of jacks and it was good as his opponent sent his hand to the muck.
