Cooler Puts Lymswan in Front, Leaves Garofalo Short

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

The board had {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{q-Hearts} face-up on the felt, Anthony Garofalo and Panja Lymswan both had all of their chips in the middle. Players tabled their hands with Lymswan at risk, but he was well in the lead with his turned set of queens dominating the flopped set of sevens that Garofalo held.

Panja Lymswan: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Anthony Garofalo: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The river came down a {j-Hearts}, cementing the pot for Lymswan who took the lead of the tournament with his turned set of ladies. Garofalo was left short and took an exit just hands later.

Botticello Puts Barnes to the Test

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

The turned board read {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and there was around 285,000 in the pot. Brittney Barnes checked to John Botticello who bet 110,000 and Barnes swiftly pushed in a check-raise to 375,000.

Botticello took a moment to think, ultimately he moved all in for 945,000 and Barnes hit the tank. After about five minutes she threw her hand into the muck, sending the pot to Botticello and his turn shove.

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
David Jackson
David Jackson

David Jackson raised to 70,000 from the hijack and the small blind called. They went heads up to the {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop and both players checked.

The turn was the {3-Spades} and the small blind fired out a bet of 85,000.

Jackson called and the {10-Spades} completed the board. The player checked to Jackson who threw out a bet of 220,000.

After giving it some thought the player called and Jackson turned over {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for top pair. His opponent fired his hand into the muck and Jackson took the pot to move over the two million chip mark.

Gilberto Taveras-Garcia
Gilberto Taveras-Garcia

The Event 1: $600 Deepstack NLH players are back from break and Gilberto Taveras-Garcia is climbing the chip counts. Like his tablemate Rafael Reis, Taveras-Garcia is also no stranger to the Borgata Poker Open Kick Off event.

Taveras-Garcia was the Event 1: $600 Deepstack NLH runner-up during the Borgata Summer Poker Open here in July.

He took home over his largest career tournament cash earning over $90,000 after an adjusted payout deal and has now earned over $250,000 throughout his poker career.

Dinner Break

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

The remaining 54 players will now be taking a 60-minute dinner break. Play will resume at approximately ~7:50 pm, with the blinds at 20,000/40,000 and a big blind ante of 40,000.

Barnes Holds Against Sailboats

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

A player in middle position moved all in for 325,000 and Brittney Barnes shoved over the top with around 660,000. The two tabled their hands and Barnes had her opponent at risk of elimination.

Opponent: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Brittney Barnes: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came down {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Barnes was still ahead with her cowboys. A {7-Hearts} turn and {9-Spades} river changed nothing as Barnes took down the pot, eliminating her opponent from the tournament.

Rafael Reis Looking to Repeat

Level 23 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Rafael Reis
Rafael Reis

We are approaching the dinner break here in Event 1: $600 Deepstack NLH and there are just 65 players remaining. Rafael Reis is still in the hunt and he knows a thing or two about this very event.

Reis bested the massive 2,370 entry Event 1: $600 Deepstack NLH field during last year's Borgata Spring Poker Open in April. He called his shot early on Day 2 and was true to his word taking home his largest career tournament score of $216,010 and the BSPO trophy.

"I'm calling my shot again, I'm taking home my second trophy" said Reis and we'll have to wait and see if his prediction comes to fruition.
