Glen Passin Eliminated in 10th Place ($3,036)

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Glen Passin
Glen Passin

Derek Staib opened from the hijack, Glen Passin called in the cutoff and Thomas Tolbert defended his big blind. The dealer spread out {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} on the flop, action checked to Staib who bet 200,000 and Passin quickly moved all in for 510,000.

Tolbert folded, Staib called and Passin tabled {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for top pair. Staib quickly turned over {k-Clubs}{q-Spades} for the same pair but a higher kicker and Passin needed to hit to stay alive. A {4-Spades} turn and {q-Diamonds} river did not help Passin as he was eliminated from the tournament in tenth place.

Gruneberg Goes Runner-Runner

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Zach Gruneberg shoved all of his 385,000 stack into the middle, Tim Macht shoved over the top for isolation and the two tabled their hands.

Zach Gruneberg: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Tim Macht: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The dealer spread out {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs} on the flop with Macht still well ahead with his pair of jacks. A spicy {7-Clubs} peeled off on the turn, giving Gruneberg a flush draw as well as some chop outs.

The dealer completed the runner-runner when they turned over a {4-Clubs} on the river, nailing the flush for Gruneberg who found a complete double through Macht.

Another Double for Gruneberg

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Santiago Vila opened to 135,000 from the hijack and Zach Gruneberg shoved all in for 770,000. Vila snapped and the two tabled their hands with Gruneberg at risk again.

Zach Gruneberg: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Santiago Vila: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

A fortuitous flop came down for Gruneberg as the dealer fanned out {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, giving him a set and the lead. An {a-Clubs} turn and {5-Hearts} river changed nothing as Gruneberg's set of treys took down the pot for a complete double through Vila.

Anastasio Holds on for a Double

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Thomas Tolbert opened to 135,000 and Sal Anastasio moved all in for 400,000. Tolbert called and the two turned over their hands with Anastasio at risk.

Sal Anastasio: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Thomas Tolbert: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

The board ran out {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Anastasio's flush took down the pot, doubling through Tolbert.

Tim Macht Eliminated in 9th Place ($4,438)

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Tim Macht
Tim Macht

Tim Macht moved all in for around 700,000 from under the gun and Sal Anastasio shoved over the top for about 100,000 more. Derek Staib called both and the three players turned over their hands.

Tim Macht: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Sal Anastasio: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Derek Staib: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Macht was in a great position to triple up but the cards had something different in mind as the dealer fanned out {k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} on the flop, hitting a king for both of his opponents as he was now on the tail-end of things. An {8-Clubs} turn and {j-Hearts} river completed the board, cementing the pot for Staib and Anastasio as they split the bounty of Macht who was eliminated in ninth place.

Gesso Turns the Nuts vs. Givotovsky

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Arnaldo Gordon opened to 135,000 from under the gun, Gino Gesso called in the cutoff and Alek Givotovsky defended his big blind. The dealer spread out {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} on the flop and action checked to Gesso who bet 200,000.

Givotovsky check-raised to 510,000 and Gordon released his hand. Gesso moved all in for 1,075,000 total and Givotovsky called, tabling {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for top pair. "I only have a straight draw," said Gesso as he turned over {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} for an open ender.

The {a-Hearts} instantly slapped down on the turn, completing the straight for Gesso as Givotovsky was now only drawing to a split. A {3-Clubs} river card was not that of a split and Gesso pulled in the pot for a complete double through Givotovsky.
