Santiago Vila Eliminated in 5th Place ($12,847)

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Santiago Vila
Santiago Vila

Santiago Vila moved all in for around 1,300,000 from under the gun and Derek Staib called from the button.

Santiago Vila: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Derek Staib: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

"I feel good about this," said Vila as his tournament life was at stake again for the second time in a few hands.

The dealer spread out {a-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Staib took a commanding lead. "Nevermind!" muttered Vila as he stood up out of his seat.

A {2-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn and Vila was not drawing to a chop. The {7-Spades} completed the board and Staib took down the pot with his flopped ace, sending Vila out the door in fifth place for a respectable $12,847.

Tolbert Starting to Fade Away

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

The flop read {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and there was around 500,000 in the pot. Thomas Tolbert checked to Zach Gruneberg who bet 250,000 and Tolbert check-raised to 600,000.

Gruneberg instantly moved all in and Tolbert hit the tank. Ultimately Tolbert released his hand to the three-bet of Grunerberg who took down the pot, leaving Tolbert as the table short stack.

Thomas Tolbert Eliminated in 4th Place ($16,117)

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Thomas Tolbert
Thomas Tolbert

Derek Staib opened from the button to 275,000 and Thomas Tolbert moved all in for around 1,525,000. Staib called and the two tabled their cards in what could be Tolbert's last hand of the tournament.

Thomas Tolbert: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Derek Staib: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The flop fell {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} and Staib's set of nines pushed him into a comfortable position to eliminate Tolbert. The turn came down a {j-Diamonds} and Tolbert was not drawing dead to the {j-Hearts} river card. Staib pulled in the pot with his full house and Tolbert took an exit in third place.

Gordon Takes a Hit from Staib

Level 31 : 80,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Arnaldo Gordon opened to 300,000 from the button and Derek Staib defended his big blind. The flop came down {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, Staib checked to Gordon who bet 300,000 and Staib check-called to see the {2-Spades} river card.

The {7-Clubs} peeled off on the turn and again action checked to Gordon, he bet 550,000. Staib check-called once more and the {7-Clubs} hit the felt as a river card.

Staib reached for chips, pushing in 600,000 and Gordon thought for a few minutes but in the end, he released his hand and Staib took down the pot without showing a card.

Gordon Shoves the Flop

Level 31 : 80,000/150,000, 150,000 ante

Derek Staib opened to 350,000 on the button and Arnaldo Gordon three-bet to 750,000. Staib called and the dealer spread out {j-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} on the flop.

Gordon announced all-in and Staib hit the tank. "To be a hero or to not be a hero," said Staib as he thought about his decision. Ultimately Staib let his hand go, sending the pot to Gordon and his river shove.
