Day 1b of the $2,200 Mystery Bounty Event as part of The Return - A Borgata Championship Event wrapped up after 12 levels of play and saw over a hundred players of the 554 runners advance to Day 2.

Of the notable players bagging at the end of the night, one of the largest stacks was Soukha Kachittavong who bagged up 364,900. The Rhode Island native has about 1.6 million in career earnings. He accumulated much of his stack late in the night as he eliminated two players in a single hand where his aces appeared to initially be cracked by a set but he hit the nut flush on the turn to gather the big boon which he rode to the end of the night.

Jason Deutsch was another beneficiary of a big three-way all in to gather a large amount of chips when his pocket jacks cracked queens and kings on the flop. He was able to finish the night with an impressive stack of 280,100, which was among the leaders.

Some other large notable stacks to end the night were WSOP bracelet winners Yaser Al-Keliddar who bagged up 285,900, Anthony Spinella who finished with 273,800 and Anthony Zinno with 261,900.

There were many players who were not able to secure a bag to Day 2 including; Darren Elias and Steve Dannenmann who was unable to roll back the years on his past success.

The Day 1a and Day 1b survivors will combine on Day 2, which will commence on Jan. 3 at noon local time and will play down to a winner.

Mystery Bounties will start at 300 players and the minimum Mystery Bounty prize will be $500. Additional prizes include 20 prizes of $1,000, 24 prizes of $2,500, 11 prizes of $5,000, five prizes of $10,000, four prizes of $25,000, three prizes of $50,000, two prizes of $100,000 and a Grand prize of $250,000.

Full chip counts and the Day 2 seat draw will be available in the morning when everything has been compiled and confirmed.

PokerNews will pick up coverage for Day 2 tomorrow, so make sure to tune in to follow all of the action.

Deutsch Crushes Royal Family With Jacks

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jason Deutsch
Jason Deutsch

Jason Deutsch called attention to his table as he had just been the beneficiary of a massive hand that surged him toward the top of the chip counts.

His hand of {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} was showing, as was the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} of Dusti Smith and the {q-}{q-} of a shorter stacked all-in player.

The board displayed {2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, showing that it was the flop that had launched Deutsch into the lead, crushing the kings and queens.

Deutsch's stack of 136,000 was taken from Smith as she was denied what would have been a huge chip lead as she got up from the table to try and walk off the frustration.

Deutsch also added the 37,000 from the player holding queens to his stack to move him above 300,000, as he now sits among the top stacks in the room.

Palma Takes With Trips

Three players were in a hand on the turn as the board showed {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. From the big blind, Nick Palma made a bet and was called by his under-the-gun opponent while the third player got out of the way.

The river came the {7-Clubs}. Palma bet 20,000 and got called.

Palma tabled the {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for tip sixes which won the pot as his opponent mucked to send Palma's stack to a decent level.

Dannenmann Makes an Appearance

Level 10 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Steven Dannenmann
Steven Dannenmann

There was a blast from the past in the Borgata as Steve Dannenmann was spotted in the field on Day 1b.

Dannenmann is of course known by the poker world for his memorable run to the WSOP Main Event final table in 2005 and making it all the way to heads-up where he would ultimately finish runner-up to Joe Hachem.

Since his $4.2 million burst onto the scene score back in 2005, Dannemann has had some scattered results, many of them coming right here in Atlantic City.

The Maryland native will have to wait for his next cash though as he was seen leaving the room after being busted in the previous level.

Torres Befuddles Simpson

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Conrad Simpson
Conrad Simpson

Action was on the river as the board read {4-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{k-Spades}. There was a pot of around 25,000 in it. Alex Torres was on the button and he casually tossed a 5,000 chip forward for a bet.

Conrad Simpson was in the big blind and thought it over for a while. "This is the weirdest hand," he said as he thought. Eventually, he said "alright I think you have it in you" and called.

Torres tabled the {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} for a pair of eights. Simpson gave a wry smile and small chuckle as he checked his cards and winced to indicate that he was pipped by the eights and he mucked his cards.

"Nice value bet" said a tablemate with an unclear amount of sincerity as Torres gathered in the pot.
