Level 10 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Mohammad Kabir

The Return - A Borgata Championship Event in Atlantic City was full of action today during Day 1b of the $5,300 The Return. A field of more than 650 took their shot at the second of two starting flights and when all the dust settled after thirteen hours of play, about a third of those players remained with a chance at the $3,000,000 guarantee.

The day was chock full of big names and Borgata locals alike. Ending the day as one of the largest stacks was low-profile Mohammed Kabir who has very little recorded poker resume to speak of but was one of the big stacks throughout the day, holding as much as 425,000 at one point He would relinquish some of that big stack before bagging 310,000.

Juxtaposed with the scant record of Kabir at the top of the counts, was well-known crusher Darren Elias who amassed a chip stack of 276,500.

Young Sik Eum (265,500) and Michael Leah (265,000) were two of the largest recorded stacks at the close of play to headline some of the other big names who advanced to Day 2 which also included a couple of WSOP bracelet winners in Michael Wang (102,000) and Nick Schulma in (98,500).

Joe McKeehen bagged up 212,500 as he was yet another big-name player to have a good Day 1b.

There were also some more local players who moved on to Day 2 with big stacks; including Aubrey Williams with 259,000 and Frank Pasquale with 251,000.

The remaining players from Day 1b will converge with those who made it through Day 1a for a combined Day 2 which will get underway at 11 a.m. local time on Friday. Levels on Day 2 will be 75 minutes long.

A full list of chip counts and seat assignments for Day 2 will be available in the morning before the start of play.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand throughout for all of the updates.

Royal Flush on the Board

One of the rarest sights in poker was seen in Level 12 as a table was reacting. In a preflop all in, Lukasz Wojtasiak held the {a-}{j-} against the {j-}{j-} of Jimmy Born.

But the two pocket holdings were rendered completely meaningless as there was a royal flush on the board, {j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. Most of the table was standing up and taking pictures of the super rare sight except for one player at the table who grew quickly annoyed and said "nobody gives a s***, deal the next hand!"

River Quads Crushes Romero's Boat

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Shaun O'Donnell
Shaun O'Donnell

There was an explosion of reactions in the middle of the room and it was quickly apparent why as the board showed the damage.

Shaun O'Donnell: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
James Romero: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board had made this race as wild of a ride as possible. The flop showed {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} giving O'Donnell the lead with a boat over trips aces. The turn was the {j-Spades} to make O'Donnell stand up as he was now basically out the door against the better full house as the table reacted but the river provided the real sting in the tail as the case ten the {10-Hearts} came down to give O'Donnell quads and sit him right back down while the table and dealer continued to voice their amazement.

Anthony Zinno
Anthony Zinno

Anthony Zinnon was spotted getting up from the table as he had just been the victim of an unfortunate flop.

His {q-}{q-} was just being swept away while the {j-}{j-} of Affif Prado was hailing as the winner. The board showed the exact moment of the queen carnage as {6-}{9-}{j-}{7-}{2-} was displayed and Zinno could do nothing but walk away.

Quad Alert For Al-Keliddar

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Yaser Al-Keliddar
Yaser Al-Keliddar

Yaser Al-Keliddar raised to 2,200 from early position. The hijack called as well as Mitch Garshofsky in the cutoff.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Al-Keliddar checked. The hijack bet 4,000, Garshofsky folded and Al-Keliddar raised to 10,000, the hijack called.

The turn was {4-} to pair the board. Al-Keliddar went all in for his remaining 14,000. The hijack said "I guess I have to call you" and tossed in the call.

Al-Keliddar had the goods as he tabled {4-}{4-} for quads which crushed the {a-}{q-} of the hijack. The river was inconsequential and Al-Keliddar gathered a big pot to boost his stack to a healthy amount.

Borgata Grinder Bourciquot Triples Up

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
James Bourciquot
James Bourciquot

James Bourciquot was standing up with his last 4,300 at risk preflop. There was a raise to 12,000 and a subsequent raise to 32,000 which was called to create a large side pot.

The two players checked down the board as it was dealt out {6-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. After the last checks, Bourciquot quickly sat down and started gesturing for the pot to be pushed his way as he tabled the {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the boat and the triple up. One of his opponents had {k-}{k-} to collect the side pot while the other hand was discarded and turned over.

Bourciquot's triple up keeps him alive as he has been one of the most active players at the Borgata in recent weeks. The Brooklyn native entered several Christmas qualifers in late December and was able to win seats in both the $2,200 Mystery Bounty, which he was able to cash in and The Return.

His opponent went into the tank and considered it for about a minute before he folded.

Failla made headlines in the $2,200 Mystery Bounty event during his deep run when he was the victim of an unfortunate river card to be eliminated, but did so in style with a memorable line on his way out.
